Passenger side windshield wiper not moving

The passenger windshield wiper stop working on my car. The shop that charged me 600 bucks to fix the windshield wipers last time told me it could just be something you tighten. How hard would it be to fix the wiper if its just tighten some bolts for someone with 0 car knowledge and barely any tools. Any info would be appreciated.

Doubtful that the nut backed off unless they didn't tighten it down enough. There are some good DIYs out there to remove and lube up the assembly. It was one of the first things I had to do to my b6. It isn't terribly difficult, but knowing your way around tools and the car first.

This video might help you see what you are in for: How to replace the wiper linkage/transmission on your Audi A4 B6

If only one is working you may have broken the linkage. The pivot joints are plastic and can break easily.

We have replacements below. Installation is pretty simple and can be done within an hour or so.

First thing you can try is taking a flat head screw driver (or butter knife if you don't have one...) and pop off the black plastic cap at the base of the wiper arm. Then turn on your wipers and see if you can see the nut or the threaded stock turning. If it is then turn off the wipers and tighten down the nut and you should be good to go. If nothing is turning on the passenger side at all then yes you likely have part of the wiper linkage broken.

As you can see in the video linked above, a very basic socket set is all you need to replace the linkage, it can be tedious though if you haven't done it before. One thing you might not have is the appropriate star/torx bit for removing the ECU cover to get access on the drivers side. Watching the video alone should give you all the information you need to at least trouble shoot what is actually broken (if anything) and then judge for yourself if you want to tackle it yourself. BTW you shouldn't need a two arm puller to remove the arm, you just need to have it bent at the right angle to pull it off. Bend the arm up at the hinge (may need to move it under the hood), grab the wiper arm at the base, while pulling straight up give the piece the bolt was threaded on a few taps with a hammer and the arm should pop right off.

For anyone who finds this helpful if Google brought you here.... I had this happen this week while arms were in service position I somehow disengaged passenger side arm from the drive. Took a look today and found the pivot shaft had pushed down which pushed the drive arm splines apart.
    To reconnect
    1. Remove access cover
    2. wiper in nested down position
    3. Lift up wiper arm back to original position
    4. Slide drive arm (marked with white paint in pic) down onto splines.
    5. While lifting wiper arm I lightly tapped the drive arm to hopefully seat it tight. I don't see anything other than tension holding splines together.
