    2008 A4 S-Line 2.0T FWD or 2008 A4 S-Line 3.2L Quattro - Need Help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Guys, i haven't been on B7 section of this forum since i sold my troublesome 06 A4 2.0T, but time has come and i need a second vehicle so i have it narrowed down to 2 vehicles that i cant decide which one should i go for so i need some assistance here,

1 - 2008 Audi A4 FWD 2.0T S-Line 116k Miles Grey ext/Black Interior - Asking price $8k - Timing Belt was changed at 80k and set of new tires - Sold by a private seller
(I've told myself i would never buy another Turbo Audi but my experience was mainly because previous owner failed to maintain the car.

    00707_jUSajJVh7Fl_1200x900.jpeg00P0P_fJAwZgqvNiB_1200x900.jpeg00r0r_7MYOiGOaix6_1200x900.jpeg00w0w_2BeDnM05aEW_1200x900.jpeg00Y0Y_69w6pIoS3ip_1200x900.jpeg

2- 2008 Audi a4 Quattro Tip 3.2l FSI S-Line 108k Miles Silver Ext/Black Interior - Asking price $7995 - Not much service records but in excellent shape - Sold by local Dealer
    ( Autocheck shows 3 records events - Corrected Title record(s) - Emission/safety inspection record(s) and Loan/Lien record(s), what does a corrected Title really mean)
(I know the 3.2L its not a Turbo engine but still suffers with Carbon Buildup and noisy Timing chain tensioners.)

EDIT: 1st vehicle shows Duplicated title two twice too...wtf

I do not have the intention of tuning, what you guys think...

    Thanks

Echoing others, but 2.0T all the way. Plus it's Dolphin Grey, so that's a win!

I'd say 2.0, but neither one is full S-line. 3.2 has the s-line wheels but no interior bits. same goes for the 2.0 which has SE wheels. you could use it as a bargaining tool as well to lower the price

This was my next question, how can you really tell if its S-Line beside the badge...?

You should have room for negotiations. Plus they are both auto, which I would think makes them harder to sell.

Its not a biggy, i live in the South and barely get any winter weather let alone snow and stuff like that, so FWD is fine with me better fuel economy less parts that can go wrong

Figured as much. If you plan to mod the engine then skip the 3.2.

In terms of reliability which one would be more an issue, i mean both have FSI so both have cam follower, hpfp and one has a timing chain the other doesn't..!

I also want to know what is truly an S-Line package because if these two neither have the S-Line package then they are nothing but a Badge sticker..?

If you're not doing any mods, go with the 3.2

You do know that the 2.0 is a CVT.

Do a search about it, plenty of info. Some of the guys here that have it can chime in about it.

One thing you have to make sure you do is change the fluid every 30-35k. Compared to every 50-60k for quattro.

I'm aware of the Transmission Fluid requirement interval but i was wondering if there was anything more serious, i mean almost every manufacturer has been fine with CVT transmission so i don't see how that is an issue but yeh, i live in the South so AWD for me is Pointless.

but definitely want to hear more from the forum members who own CVT,

    Thanks

CVT aren't as bad so long as you know how to take care of and not to abuse it. One thing I learned here in Audizine all these years is that almost ALL of the Audis here has had minor to major transmission or trans-related problems - be it Tip, DSG, or CVT, etc..With that said, I'm surprised with the overwhelming votes from veterans for the CVT over the 3.2 here...supposedly a Quattro? I don't see anything on the back saying Quattro.

The 3.2 is a Quattro according to Autocheck and the badge on the Dashboard.

If it doesn't matter FWD V AWD have you looked at BMW or Mercedes?

Hell, for what you want to spend you can get a new Hyundai or Kia.

If you have snow, I'd say the 3.2. Get a carbon cleaning as soon as you buy it. I've owned both, and pre-tune, the 3.2 is more fun. Especially if you have no plans to mod at all. 3.2 is more reliable generally as well.

No snow around here, it barely goes below 30F during the coldest month of the Winter let alone any snow.

I love my A4 because it is an overall fun car to drive with killer looks and comfort, not because it is a CVT. I don't even think about it because it is as smooth as gliding butter across a frozen pond.

OP, pick the one that has most service records and not been abused. At over 110k I think that 2.0T should be fine.

Alright, after going through the AutoCheck i realized neither of them say S-Line, but when i checked 06 a4 couple months ago it states as being S-Line. So these vehicles aren't S-line but they just got an S-Line badge correct me if I'm wrong..?

S-Line 'ground effects' are standard on all final year 2008 B7 A4s. Which means you will have the front & rear valance spoiler, side door blades, lip on trunk lid, and the S-Line Badge on grille. Additionally, you can get the S-Line performance package which upgrades your steering wheel from 4-spoke to the sportier 3-spoke, sport suspension (though this can be a separate option alone), inner S-Line Door Sills, sportier Pedals, etc...but all 2008 are S-Line in appearance regardless.
