    Brake rotor minimum thickness

Does anyone have the minimum rotor thickness numbers?

I have a 2004 Allroad. I am thinking of replacing all the pads and rotors myself. I was in Firestone last week putting my summer tires on and they measured the rotors. 1.152, 1.147, .395, and .382. They look pretty smooth but they do have a lip on them. The paper work I have says the last change was 60k miles ago. I am wondering if pads could last that long or if this number seems about right.

They said my pads were 6, 6, 4, and 5. They said my front passenger has one pad at a 3 so I am thinking this one needs the caliper lubricated. The problem is they said I can just do the front passenger pad and that my rotors are good. This seems sketchy and makes me think they don't know what they are talking about.

My pad warning light just came on so I need to figure this out soon. I could just get the Meyle kit for $308 shipped.

    Thanks

For the fronts, I believe 32mm is factory width, so yours should have some life left in them. Your front pads sound good with the exception of the front passenger @ 3mm. 3mm is the pad width most would recommend getting ready to buy new pads.

The most economical way would probably be to resurface the front rotors, and then buy new pads at the same time. You can get new rotors and new pads so cheaply however, on places like rockauto.com, you'll just want to weigh new rotors vs. resurfacing $.

V8 or v6 Allroad? If you look up the part on Centrics brake parts website it will show for your application.

They start at 30mm. Discard at 28mm (1.102"). Yours have about half of their useable life left.
