B8.5 Taillight Retrofit

Hello everyone,

I apologize in advance if this topic has been covered previously, but the only relevant information I found was regarding retrofitting post-facelift tails into B8's.

Is it at all possible to retrofit B8.5 tails into a B8.5? I have a spare wrecked B8.5 that I'm stripping of usable parts and was considering swapping my halogen tails for the fancy led's

If only an adapter harness and recoding is needed, would I be able to repin my original wires into the cut off plugs from the salvage B8.5?.

you need the trunk lid. the inner tail lights are different. a little more sharp looking.

Turns out the B8.5 halogen and LED tails are identical in shape
and only the connectors are different

Hopefully the repair manual will have a proper pinout of the cables, so all I will need to do is repin the plugs and be ready to go!

EDIT: Does anyone have a link to a repair manual for 2013 A4? The one I have for 2011 has different colored wires. Thanks!

I think it's fairly simple IIRC, but mine came with LED tails, so that's just based on the limited info I've seen floating around.

^There is around 2-3 pages of coding involved. Pretty straight forward really.

Turns out this won't be easy. The outside LED tails have 5 cables while stock halogen harness only has 4.

I bought the kit from Alex at Europrice.

Complete kit, no issues at all. Was about 5 hours of work, but very doable if you have mechanical/ electrical skills.

If not, take it to a dealer, since the retrofit kit is available from Audi as well.

I sent an email out to Europrice regarding that 5th cable, hopefully they know what to do with it. The only reason I wanted to swap them since I got the LED tails essentially free, there's no way I'm willing to pay 1300 for new tails haha.
