Pinnacle FormulaOne Ceramic tint. Advice and pics needed.

Going to be getting my phantom black pearl S5 tinted soon. Debating between 15% and 30%. The installer told me Audi windows tend to look a little darker than your average vehicle.

Anyone have pictures of either of my choices with the Pinnacle ceramic tint? I know it's incredibly tough to get a good feeling for a tint via pics, but it's still better than nothing.

I can't supply you with pictures, but I can advise you. Not sure wtf the installer was talking about when he said Audi windows would look any darker... all it comes down to really is the interior color (black obviously will make it look darker).

I currently have no tint on my B8.5 but I like it that way. On my B6 S4 (black with black interior) I started out with regular non-ceramic tint at 35%. I eventually had it switched to F1 Pinnacle 30% ceramic. I expected no differences in light since the 5% difference is barely anything. I was wrong, the 30% was MUCH darker than the previous regular 35%. This is because of the features of the F1 Pinnacle Ceramic itself, but it was also because their tint is as close to "black" as possible. The cheap tints you can get will often have a blueish or greenish hue to them.

That said, I loved that tint and any car of mine that I tint in the future will have F1PC for sure. The car is MUCH cooler in the sun, glare is even better reduced compared to normal tint, and it just looks way better overall since it has a naturally black/charcoal hue.


TL; DR: 30% of F1 will look slightly darker than 30% of normal tint, so keep that in mind when making your decision. I would advise going 30%, especially if you have a black interior in the S5. 15% would be more like 10% ish, which is way too dark for my taste.

I believe they don't offer a 20%, closest would be 15%. But thanks for the pictures. Leaning towards the 15%.

It's the 15 percent I believe. It is the second to the darkest if that makes sense. I'm all black inside and it's dark when looking in but not too much from the inside. I wouldn't go darker IMO with an all black interior.

I'm the silver S4 btw. If you would like other pics outside I can send them to you. I've done darker and lighter on different cars and the 15 percent looks dark when you want it tho gives good vis when it's dark. The darkest "limo" tint I would sometimes have problems at night when it was dark. If you have a black interior like me 15 percent is as dark as I would go.

Also personal opinion but I would do the same to all the windows. I could never understand why you wouldn't want all the windows to look even? No offense to those who did differently for legal purposes. But personally I could never understand doing the front windows lighter IMO it looks bad. I'm a bit OCD about tint I guess. Please no offense to the white s5 above I can fully understand why you wouldn't go 5 percent all the way around.

Ive put the pinnacle on around 15 cars now. I really think its a great value. It shouldnt look as dark as regular metallic bc it allows more light transmission while still blocking more heat so the 30% will perform well. In truth i wish they made something like 20% bc the 30% is a tad bit light for my taste while the 15% is a tad dark bc i value good night visibility. Its very much preference. Im not a dark tint guy so i lean to 30%. It performs well. If your are more of a dark tint perdon though youll want the 15. You can still see the occupant with the 15.

It's pretty dark if you'd ask me, at night impossible to see inside. During the day you can see inside. More of a reason I went darker is because of the hot summers, tint does a great job at keeping the heat out.

Thanks Scalways, really appreciate all the pics and the PM's. That 15% looks really dark but I'll still likely go that route because 30% in the light just seems too light for my taste.

The Formula One tint is amazing. You can really notice the temp decrease in the cabin, it looks better than other brands IMHO, and it is more durable/less prone to scratching. I personally like 20% on the back window and 35% on the sides to avoid any issues with cops. In my state, even if I got a tint waiver, they could still pull you over and check the tint and bust your balls for other stuff they find while there.

Go 15%, looks nice and the amount of heat it keeps out is amazing. You wouldn't regret it which is why I went from 30% to 15% pinnacle tint.

See if they have a car you can sit in, in my experience, darker than 30% is terrible to drive in at night, although it does look awesome.

Got 15% all around on my Daytona grey. I would actually probably be happy with 10%, but don't think the shop I go to carries 10% pinnacle.

The FormulaOne ceramic does not offer a 10%. 5% is the darkest option.
