    Wobble bolts or Adapter Plates???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So from allthe posts I've seen Ihave yet to find a definitive answer. I have some wheels withgood tires that are 5x114.3. Obviously Audi's bolt pattern for my A4 is 5x112. Would you recommend good wobble bolts (ECS Tuning or other good brand) or some 5x112 to 5x114.3 adapter plates (probably off of eBay)?

Larger spacers need large hubcentric ring in order for you not to put the weight of the car on the bolts themselves. I have used ebay ones with the hubcentric spacers. Really good quality if they are made from the aircraft aluminium.

    Would not suggest wobble bolts....

You can always get the wheels drilled to 5x112 at a reputable wheel shop.

How expensive would that be? Also it's a pair of "Universal" ones so it already has two bolt patterns if that matters.

Where I live I got quoted $75 a wheel. But prices are different at different shops.

You see I would do that but I'm a fairly broke college kid. $75 per is a lot more than $75 for a set of adapters or wobble bolts

Wobble bolts. Just be careful because most 5x114 wheels run on M12 studs, you may need to drill out the bolt/stud holes to accept M14 bolts and give the wobble bolts room to work.

Wobble bolts really depend on the wheel. They are rather large bolts and the washer won't fit in a narrow lug well. I had tried to use them on a set of xxr wheels and no luck, I also used a wheel adapter to fit the wheels but you need a ridiculously thick adapter to fit the oem bolts in. The final offset for me was way too much and eventually bought the same wheel in a less aggressive fitment. with the wheel adapters. same wheel less aggressive. I'd really just suggest a wheel that fits your car.

Wobble bolts and you might have to drill the lug holes bigger.

Or a a stud conversion. Just a quick example I found via google : Click here

Adpaters will lower your offset, you should mention the width and offset of the wheel you want to use if you want good advise for these.

I know there is a DIY in the c5 section. I think a 5/8" bit or 3/4" bit is best used on the 5x114 wheels plus wobble bolts should do it.

V8A6 is the member who detailed the DIY. Was performed on enkei nt03 I believe.

I used wobble bolts on my vossen cv3s (had them from my previous car anyways) and they fit perfectly with no vibration or fitment issues

I wouldn't attach the wheels with anything that wobbles. Just my 2 cents. Honestly, you just need to get a wheel that fits, becaus you could damage your wheel bearings if the offset is wrong (at least, that's my understanding). Being a broke college kid, the last thing you want is to have a car in dire need of an expensive repair.

Also, maybe you shouldn't be buying wheels then?

Well, 5x112 wheels are expensive. I already have a nice set of 5x114.3 on a set of fairly decent Bridgestone Potenzas. I would just like to avoid buying a new set of wheels if at all possible. That would open up my money to be spent elsewhere on the car for things like performance parts or more aesthetic upgrades.

    I'm thinking about this solution.

I have a rare set of 4x front 350z 35th ann wheels in my locker.

I think those wheels look awesome.

They look nice but are not my style. I said this in another post of mine but I like the look of Rotiform BLQ's. They look slick to me. There are a few others I like as well but standard 5-spokes don't do much for me.
