    rear lower control arm bushings?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello all i'm new here just picked up an 07 s-line titanium few months ago after turning in a TDI .
I'm having the common rear suspension squeak, the upper arm bushing are clearly bad so ill replace the arms the outer bushings on the lower are a looking bad as well ( not the one on the knuckle ) iv'e been searching for days for bushings but can only find the complete arms almost $300 a side ! no one makes bushings? i see a kit for the b6 but none for the b7? is getting new arms the only option ? why wont the b6 bushings work ?
    thanks!

Which bushing are you referring to ? If your talking about the two piece one that was the easiest one to remove.
I ordered a used arm from eBay for $25 to measure before taking the car apart it got broken in shipping so I removed the bushings. I'll take pictures and do a write up in about 2 wks when I get time to take her apart but so far it looks promising!

Yep. That's the one. Good luck Sky, I know what you're going through. I just did a complete front and rear setup including shocks. Car drives like its brand new again. Time to start saving up for those speeding tickets again.

They used to sell just the bushings for the b7 about 5-6 years ago. I'm unfamiliar with what the revision was for that we have to buy a complete arm. Oh wait, yes I do...It's phuck'n greed

Yes there's a difference between the b6 and b7 arms ... it's probably a bolt hole or two why they don't market bushings for the b7 is weird .
Unfortunately I'll be doing the front arms this weekend.

Maybe Powerflex could make bushings for the rear control arms. I can shoot em an email and see what I can find. Can't imagine it'd be terribly hard to make something like that. Then again I know next to nothing about the process for making poly bushings.

Well I found akmotorsports makes a complete poly bushing kit that it made to fit the b6 AND b7 which is what got me thinking about buying the b6 bushings.
I don't want poly due to the slight increase in stiffness and the maintenance of poly is the other issue. But if one wants poly ak makes a complete kit at a decent price .

On the B7 page on ECS's site they only have 1 replaceable LCA bushing, there is a total of 3 bushings on the control arms.

    https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/8e0505312af/

    https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/8e0505311af/

That akmotorsports kit does not look bad. $414 is super fair considering 1 replacement control arm is like $280. I just had my rear upper c/a bushings done too...at least they'll come back out easy.

Ecs has a kit that includes both lower arms and hardware kit at a good price compared to buying everything separate. Yes if I wanted poly ak is the way to go.

Hi guys it’s been a while , I put this off in hopes of just selling the car and moving on but I just couldn’t part with it and ended up taking the entire rear subframe out getting a good used one and rebuilding the entire rear suspension.
I’m at the point of putting the subframe back in it’ll probably get bolted up Thursday but I can’t find the torque spec on the subframe mounting bolts.
I have new bolts and I believe they are TTY bolts I can’t find the rear subframe bolt spec in the Bentley manual found the front but not the rear can anyone supply the specs from a good source?
Thai has been a heck of a journey had to make a handful of tools for removing and installing bushings I’ll post up some pictures when I get a chance to upload to my drive account.
If anyone has specific questions I’ll be happy to answer them while it’s still fresh .

Yes the “ kit” fits but the bushing that’s goes in the knuckle is different. That’s why it’s not listed as fitting the b7.

Thanks for response. There are three, which one is different? or all three? Does the difference affect usage? Did you end up using them?

The kit I used is part number 1005051008S ,
Yes I used it except for the knuckle bushing .
The one that does not fit is the one that does not have an aluminum shell on the outside.
Not sure I know what you mean about three different ones .
    EDIT
To be honest the knuckle bushing is the one bushing I didn’t replace , so I can’t confirm that it won’t fit .
If I remember correctly there are two different knuckle bushing for the b7 . again I’m doing this from memory so bear with me .
The bushing was I good shape and it looked like it was going to be pain to change ,it was a pick you battle situation .

The bushing in question is VW part number 8E0505203D according to ecs it fits both b6 and b7 I’d confirm with dealer and if so then the kit I listed above will fit the b7 .
The b6 and b7 lower control arm are a different part number and I think that’s my meyle lists it as a b6 only fitment .
It’s all coming back now ....
Hope this doesn’t make it more confusing , if you need more information I’m happy to help .

Got it. 203D is the one called Outer. It is available for B7, and can be purchased separately, eve if not fit. But I only look for replacing some (tearing) ones, not necessarily all of them. The kit seems a good one. I might give it a try. Thanks a lot.

It is pretty expensive. I might just buy the rear lower arm instead.

Maybe email them and see if they can sell just bushings for the lower arm?

If not, then Find a cheap used lower arm and buy new bushings. Should be cheaper than a whole new one

FCP has it Meyle B6 set for $47, and would get it if were to decide to do this job. I did bushings for front, it worked but could not say like it. Maybe I was not using correct tools or cups. Rear ones are even bigger ....

I installed powerflex black bushings (95A) in my front uppers and it was a fight to get them in.

Even with a shop press and all sorts of cups and spare bearings to play with it took a while.

Having the right tools makes these jobs so much easier for sure.

Not shop press, I had bearing / bushing tool set. Some metal rings are so thin and it is hard to get cup stay on them without slipping (especially under pressure). That is why I am hesitating Or I do not need to be so meticulous - it is not that bad anyway

You can probably ask an indy shop to help you press them in. They'll probably charge you $25-50 or something. My shop charged me $50 to press in all 6 in my lowers yesterday.
