Make sure car is up to operating temperature, steering wheel is straight and you're at a dead stop > turn off traction control, put in S (sport) mode, press brake, mash gas pedal, let off brake.... Haul a$$.

Launch isn't super impressive, but the shifts are insane. "Launch Control" vs. not using launch control is about a .20-.30 second difference from 0-60 according to P3 gauge.

Some say there is no launch control because it is not a DSG. For those of you subscribed to that notion, you can call it "race-start-mode" or whatever blows your skirt up. The fact is launch control is described in the owners manual and when the sequence is followed correctly, it works like a champ. Shift points are at redline and they are hard and fast. Call it what you like, but it is the ZF8's version of launch control. It's good for about a half-second on your 0-60 time. Try it!

I don't think it's in the manual. Here's a link to what @spijun has posted previously about it.

I have read several forums and the subject is varied, half said not to do because the ZF is not intended for this and others gives the same link with the procedure ... who or what to believe .. .I have a doubt ... is it only with the Stronic?

this is not a launch control like dsg, it is more like a Torque converter that we use as a launch control.

Old school, brake torque the converter bu the ZF 8hp also changes its upshift program and really tightens up the shifts otherwise they're a lazy sunday drive where you lose a ton of time.

It holds the RPMs at 2500 or a little more and then lets you launch harder. When not enabling the torque converter can't be held past 1500, maybe even less.

Mine only revs to about 22-2300...

Also, even when following exact instructions above, sometimes it doesn't work.

I read this somewhere, but can't find it now... It requires a certain brake pedal pressure to be applied and maintained before it will activate. I can keep the car from moving even while brake torqued with quite a bit less pedal pressure than is needed to put it in "LC" mode. FWIW

    SQ5/Q5 3.0T - Launch control ?

The B9 has to have it. Every Audi ZF has had it this far, and the B9 S4 with the same engine/trans combo has it.

You're not going to break anything loading the TC or launching the car. You'll increase the wear and tear, but all of Audi's advertised acceleration data was acquired using AMAX. It's designed to do it.

Like stated. In the B9 SQ5 you hold the traction controll button for atleast 5-10 seconds. mmi will notify traction is OFF. Next you put the car into D and down again into "S" (you can also do this when already in "S" mode by disable traction control). Press the brake pedal ALL THE WAY to the FLOOR. Next Press the Gas pedal ALL THE WAY to the FLOOR. the car will rev up to about 3,500 rpm and then hold its rev around that point. after a second or two, release your foot off the brake and hold onto the wheel tight. the car will take off. I have track slips of 12.69 1/4 in my B9 Sq5 using launch control everytime flawless on the 3rd yellow light!

A bump to this old thread just to confirm this works with the TDI as well. I hit a wide-open stretch which is quite rare in these parts so I followed the launch control procedure exactly as described in the screenshots above. It was like a night and day difference. Almost zero turbo lag but perhaps even more pronounced was the ferocious gear shifting. You can really feel each and every gear change strongly reverberating through the drivetrain, they are that fast and hard.

    Thanks,
Perhaps your note is dated, but I’m making comments on a 2021 SQ five from the owner manual. There is launch control section that describes how to use it.page 102.
