    Disable rear lock button

    Hi All,

    I saw a few older posts here :: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-Lock-Switches

    and here :: http://www.audiworld.com/forums/q7-d...doors-2767659/

    Wanted to ask if anyone has either experienced the same issue and if so, have you come up with a solution? Mine is a similar story, son is old enough now to reach the lock button from his car seat, and of course thinks its funny. Thankfully I keep the not-so-smart key in my pocket so I was able to use the metal physical valet key (whatever that's called) and manually unlocked the driver side door. This has only happened twice but its just something else to think about now... There are times where I'll leave the key in the car and/or forget to roll down the window.

    I have a call out to my dealer to see if there's an easy way to just disable the button all together, honestly I'm not sure why there are lock buttons in the back (and to only be lock, without unlock!)

    Thanks in advance!

    Perhaps that was being confused with the power window switch that's shown in this pic and is used to prevent passengers from operating the power windows ...

    If you're concerned about your child actually opening the door, there are child safety locks that prevent the rear doors from opening from the inside. you can use the mechanical key out of the master key and insert in the slot in the edge of the door (i.e., open door, look at the area of the latch for the black plastic plug with a slot, just above the latch). Turn the key in the direction of the arrow to activate the lock, and the opposite direction to switch the lock off.

    If you're mainly concerned with the electric lock switch being operated, you might be able to disconnect the switch, but not sure if the door card needs to be removed to access the connector. Alternatively give the kid an iPad to play with instead of the door lock switch!

    Disable rear lock button

    This happened to me the other day! I keep my key in my bag and threw it in front. Put my 3yo in the back seat and walk to the driver side door and.... *click* go the locks.

    Luckily I was home and ran in to get my spare. If we were in the school parking lot I'd have been screwed. I now exclusively keep my keys in my pocket.

    If you find an answer it would be great to hear it! I wonder if it's possible to just swap the switches out for the same ones that are in the front. This way at least you could talk them into unlocking it for you lol.
