Anyone have or use one of these? Oil Extraction Suction Pump

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
At a little over 7 Quarts could be tricky, would likely need to drain a couple quarts, shut off and drain, then let it rip again till empty...

Getting ready for 55K service and refuse to pay $600 for it. I have seen a lot of issues with the Mighty Vac types leaking after a little while. This thing looks pretty robust and easily can be used to transport your oil to a recycling tank...along with the first quart or 2 that you would capture separately.

I don't have one of those, but I definitely have an extractor I got online (I forget if it was ECS or elsewhere) and it holds quite a bit. It's actuated with a hand pump, and I'm sure a custom fitting could be added on, if necessary.

I have one that I purchased off Amazon that holds 8L, hand pump operated. Works great, makes the oil changes a whole lot easier. I'm considering getting another one to use for trans fluid services.

I have that exact model. Works good. Probably not as good as the one on ECS but it does the job. Way easy then being under the car. It handled all the oil in my 3.0t without having to empty the can. I've only used it once so far. I paid $45 for it so I can't complain.

I use one on my lawn tractor and have used on multiple mowers in the past. Works a charm, would definitely recommend one like that.

I have a 9L pneumatic/pump operated fluid extractor. Works great on my Q7 TDI which takes 9L of Oil! Good thing I live 1 block from the oil recyling station. Now using it for the first time on my newly acquired salvaged C7 S6.

You can get them pretty cheap IMO. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pneumatic-Fluid-Extractor-9-0-Liter-Air-Operated-Oil-Coolant-Brake-one-1-man-/351949506687?hash=item51f1d3487f:g:0Q4AAOSwawpXqqQ r

I have a pump that connects to a drill for my boat oil changes. Works great and u can put the oil into any container you want. Plus they are cheaper.

Am I missing something? While it's nice to extract the oil you still need to change the filter. What are people doing about that? Feel like it's still messy because of that. My old ML320 had the filter on top and with my extractor I could change the oil I need a suit if I wanted. I hate underbody oil filters :)

Easiest, cleanest, & fastest way to change oil. No doubt.

WOW...i changed my oil today...funny i bought the car with 46,000 miles and they handed me all the service records and they were like "hey we even just did the 45K service"...so i figured they just did it...NO

On one hand...nice...they did the 45K service at 40K!!! but i just hit 50K and all my service and oil warning lights were going off and i was like WTF??? went back to records to discover...yes...they did the 45K at 40K.

So...i have a bunch of travel coming up for work and was going to order everything from ECS but i ended up wanting to do the oil change today...ordered the Mann oil filter from Amazon(prime) and got 2 5qt jugs of Mobil 1 0W40 which is the only 502 approved Mobil 1 oil. I used the Topsider to suck the oil out, grabbed my 36mm socket and changed the oil filter/o rings, and I also did the air filter - dropped the K&N filter in there...might get an intake at some point but I have had good experience with K&N. The OEM filter I pulled out of there had not been replaced in a while...it was grungy.

I have to say this was maybe not the fastest oil change i have ever done but it was certainly the easiest...by far. Only improvement might be to get some larger rigid line from home depot that will fit in the dipstick tube than the tube the Topsider came with...can definitely go larger to make evacuation quicker.

All in all it was $13 at amazon for the oil filter and I got 2 5qt jugs of oil from walmart for $26 a piece. And i have 2+Qts left over for next time.

The hardest part was resetting the damn "Service Due" message...I have VCDS but it took a couple searches and attempts to reset it.
