Has anyone on here ever tried a spacer like this one and have successfully set readiness for CAT?

If you want a cheaper option, you can buy spark plug anti foulers from Napa (I might be able to find the part number). The pack comes with 2, and you need both.

What you do is drill the one out so the 02 sensor fits inside, then cut a 1" x 1" square of steel wool. Then, put the steel wool in, and screw the two anti foulers together, then put into your exhaust. Worked in my 2004 1.8t throwing a P0420 code

this^, also you may have to play with the amount of spacers, angle, etc. Sometimes it just works others may have to make adjustments until it does, typically with no cats you have to pull it out more then if you have HFC and then it depends on how much those HFC's flow.

Would you insert the wool in-between the two foulers so that the wool sits directly under the 02?

basically yes, you may need to stretch out the wool with the 02 by pressing it in a little before you tighten the two spacers together, also sometimes you don't even need the steel wool, try it and drive for a week or so and see if your code comes back.

That's the thing. I never got a code. I just can't set readiness for CAT.

you have a bad tune then, its just turning the check engine light off and associated code without setting readiness, If I remember right you were having issues with this in another thread right?

Yes you’re right. My 02S is finally setting now but it’s just the CAT readiness that’s not setting. It used to set with my stock cat with the tune, Ever since I installed the HFC it hasn’t passed readiness.

I can have one readiness not pass and still pass emissions but I removed my Sai and I was hoping to have that readiness to be my "1" failed. I'd like to have my cat to pass as I feel it's essential like you stated. I have a pending code after I hit the highway for p0171 "lean" that I still haven't been able to rule out. I'm still trying to figure out if it's the tune or not. Since I've been having this issue for 4 years and it comes up more often in the winter time.. I'm going to be doing a smoke test hopefully this week and determine if I have any leaks. Everything is basically new as for vacuum lines and tip.

you have a small vacuum leak somewhere it comes up more in the winter as your car takes in more air when its cold and that probably pushes you just over the limit. Start with a boost leak test.

I've done multiple boost leak test with no leaks detected. Hopefully this week I can build my EVAP smoke testing machine and smoke test the whole system to be 100% certain. I keep burning up my turbo to cat gasket so that's probably throwing my readings off a little as well. I have parts coming this week to fix that and then i'll know for sure.

Just an update, I installed the spacer with the middle sized restrictor and I am now happy to say that I pass readiness for my CAT. Definitely a good product!

My N75 was leaking internally...and it was new from Audi...

I think that should be fine since the atmosphere part of the N75 just gets routed back into the turbo inlet pipe as the stock configuration. That air then gets re-metered by the MAF and ingested into the intake tract.

Thanks man! It's about time I have this figured out. It was a combination of needing this spacer and having the right gasket (FELPRO) to seal my tiny exhaust leak I had on the turbo to CAT flange.

I have the same one at home and I didn't have a CEL either but I couldn't pass readiness for CAT for emissions. I took that spacer out and placed the one that's in post #1 and I now pass readiness for CAT.

The catalyst sensor readiness comes with just driving the car. When i reset it takes roughly 40 miles before i have the readiness set for catalyst. The one thats stubborn for me is the "secondary air" readiness

Yes it normally does, but with my HFC the readiness wouldn't set since there was too much flow. The spacer I installed fixed this. Are you running a High flow cat? your readiness might not set for SAI if you're running a test pipe or HFC.
