A couple of years ago I had to wait about 4-5 months for my already purchased CLA45, the wait was killing me! I think I watched and read every single review known to man kind during that time So I thought I could help people save a lot of time buy gathering all the best and most informative reviews in this thread. Maybe this can even be a sticky thread, hope everyone enjoys it.

I ordered my B9 S4 mid Sept, 2016, order accepted mid Nov, 2016, Car built Dec, 2016, arrived at Jacksonville port 12/3182016. Last word on my receipt of car: March, 2017 or AFTER. What is Audi doing????? I sure can't figure it out. They state that this is "normal roll out".

My sales agent just called me to say they got a 2018 S4 in for test drive, gonna take it for a spin this weekend. Damn I think the wait for the car is going to feel longer after test drive :-O

Test drove it today. First impression is it really is better than the B8/8.5. I don't care what all the others are saying, it really is an engaging drive and steps it up from last gen.

Engine - Check
Transmission - Check
Looks in person - Check
Suspension/Steering - Check
Interior - Check


This thing hauls. The motor is really responsive, strong and linear. I can't find any dead-spots that have been talked about. It quickly eats miles like a fat kid eats hod dogs. It snaps through the gears fast. Its sounds great (incredible really... forgot to turn on the stereo to test it :)). Interior is a really nice place to be. I believe they are finally dialing in the dynamic steering. Suspension is bang on (flat, grippy, responsive and comfy all in the same corner).

Can't wait for mine to be here.

Dynamic steering is an option on the B9s, perhaps this one had it? If so, make sure yours does!

Good to hear more positive response on the dynamic steering. It was the final option I added and I hope I'm not disappointed.

Yep... In Canada we have adaptive suspension, dynamic steering, sport differential and red callipers all as independent options. I have steering and the diff for mine. Red callipers wasn't worth the $500 to me and adaptive dampers were less important than diff and steering, when trying to manage the overall cost.

One of the best things Audi does with their higher up models is fold away the NAV screen. I think that is so simplistically genius. If the Virtual Cockpit can trickle all the way down to the A4, why can't a fold away screen at least make it down to the S4/5? Shame.

A3 has a great folding screen, but I never had a reason to retract it and by a few weeks in it was simply a gimmick. I am totally on board with the fixed screen.

I agree, looks like Mercedes started this trend in the luxury market. I would rather them spend the money on other parts of the car then on a screen that pops up and down..

The fold away screen is like the manual transmission. Everyone says they want one but the actual usage tells another story. Not enough people actually buy *new* manuals, and folks that have hideaway screens eventually prefer to just leave it out all the time, since that is the way it is supposed to be used.

I agree regarding the folding mmi. It seems everyone has an issue with it. But you look at those who have an issue and you find that they are people who don't have a B9. B9 owners are happy with the tablet-like, non-folding mmi. Why? Because, like someone else said, no one folds the mmi down out of choice. I have it in my A7 and it doesn't matter whether it folds down or not. Agreed it looks cool but that wears off in a few days. I don't care anymore whether it fold down or just stays there. People who see it for the first time in my A7 thinks it is cool but they think the interiors of my A4 are cooler, with the VC and stuff!!
The MMI in the B9 is placed perfectly. It does NOT obstruct your view at all and works perfectly. In photos, it might look weird because people think it looks like a tablet stuck onto the dash but in person, it does not look weird. I kinda like it. And yes. The A3 has a fold away MMI and maybe they should've put one like that one the A4 too. But then, I've read complains about the folding motor going kaput and it getting stuck in the open position. I don't have to worry about that with my B9.

Yes. As funny as it may sound, I did think the mmi display in the 8.5 was a bit low and liked the position of it in my A6. In the B9, it is perfectly placed. As in, I don't have to move my eyes much to pay attention to the MMI compared to the old A4 I've driven where I felt it was lower. Basically, it all depends on how you get used to it. B8/8.5 owners might be used to the mmi in their cars and find the one in the B9 weird. Vice versa for B9 owners.

Nice in depth Review comparing the C43 and S4. He rates the S4 better in every category but at the end can't say the S4 is a better car? Weird!
