I used oil extractor once and love it, I got out 7 qts, which is more than I could get out by draining the oil.

Thanks for posting. I buy my own oil (7 quarts) and OEM filter, washer, plug and take it to my dealer for $30 in labor. I went last month and they told me my 2013 S5 takes 7.2 quarts, which was the first time i had heard this...can anyone confirm?

    TIA,

Got my oem dipstick. Level on MMI says 80% full, yet on the dipstick it only reads about 50% (midway between add and max). This is after I let oil run back down to the pan for about an hour after car shut off. Perhaps minimum level on the MMI is below where the add line is on the dipstick? Just curious.

Any tricks to get the oil out of the extractor? I'm probably doing something wrong, but it takes me 3x as long to empty the extractor than it does to empty the engine oil pan.

Just open the lid on the top and dump the oil into the recycle... Oil change itself took me about half an hour, while cleaning the extractor would probably took the same amount of time....

BTW, which kind of extractor are you using?

You can use the electric pump, dumping used oil directly into any container you wish. Clean. If you are lucky, no drops anywhere.

Good pumps can be bought on ebay for $18-20.

I bought the dipstick with that part number from Amazon.com for $25. It fits my 2016 S5 perfectly, no modifications required. I just removed the black winged plug on the top right front of the engine and slowly inserted the dipstick to make sure there were no problems with binding or interference. The dipstick seated itself properly in the dipstick tube. I used it to confirm the oil sensor level display. The dipstick showed oil level at MAX, as did the display on the MMI.

J.H.C., I always thought that top came off the spout!! Needed a pair of pliers to get it off, like there was a dab of glue holding it in place. Embarrassing!! Glad I asked or I'd keep trying to empty 7 quarts like I was shaking the last bit out of a catsup bottle.

The new Audi filter came with 2 O-rings, a large one with a tab, and a same diameter but much thinner one. I replaced the larger one in the oil filter housing, but I'm not seeing the thinner one anywhere on the car or the filter housing. Am I missing something?

No, however sometimes oil filters come with the washer that is needed to be replaced when removing the oil drain plug. This is not the case with this filter, the washer is too small.

been a few months since i changed mine, but i think the thinner one (no tab) is up by the threads on the cap housing. Google images shows it better than i can describe.

    This is correct.

I also changed mine via draining last weekend and I was able to get the full 7.2 qts out. I did have to use a 5qt jug and then 3 of the 1qt bottles.

Can you (or anyone for that matter) post the Manufacturer and Tool part number for the Oil Extractor tool that you used.

I'll update my posting according to the responses. Feel free to PM or email me.

Dont keep adding. The mmi wont read instant changes. Check on a warm engine later itll probably read full. Same thing happened to me. Ended up overfilling .5 qt and still read low at first

Btw, you missed some if thats what you pulled out
