So im wondering what i have to do to go from Audi Symphony 3 to Audi Navi Plus on a 2008 A4 S-line
i looked this up on the forums but some of them seem to be outdated with broken links or dead pictures

    do i need a harness?
is it a plug and play?

im trying to go from what the top image looks like to what the bottom image looks like

I believe because you are calling them by the wrong names:

Audi Symphony 3 is actually the Audi Symphony 2+
Audi Navi Plus is called the RNS-E

There's a million threads about this subject.

It's also cheaper to go aftermarket and get more modern equipment/functionality. My headunit is an AppRadio 3) and mirrors my phone so I can use Waze, Google Maps, check email, send/receive text messages, and even watch Netflix if I want. Yes, it's not OEM+, but the functionality kicks the crap out of any RNS-E.

To go from S2+ to Rns-E all you need is to move one wire in your quand lock connector (Kline) or two wires if you're Bose (Kline et Bose)

Yes it is. A few years old now, but still light-years ahead of any RNS-E.

we'll they were quoting me about $800 dollars to put in the in dash and the reason i ask is because a friend of mine owes me money for working on a car so he's willing to give me his navi plus poem in dash just wondering how hard it would be to install it.
