Parents - what kick mats work with S4 seats (non-adjustable headrests)???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Kick mats (those things that protect the back of the front seats from your kids' little fit kicking them all the time) all seem to fit "standard" front seats where the headrests are mounted on two posts. Since S4s have not adjustable headrests, which kick mats are people using that work well with our seats? I'm about to turn around my daughter's convertible car seat to forward-facing. and want to keep the S4 in good shape.

    Thanks in advance!

Ditto! I have one in my other vehicle as well but it just looks bleh. Other issue is the other car at least has a hole in the headrest area.

I use this in my S6 with fixed front headrests. The top just wraps around the headrest and settles low enough, so I don't feel it or anything.

I use those brica ones on the S4 as well. The upper strap sits low enough on the headrest I don't feel it, it's not the greatest looking but it serves its purpose. The lower elastic strap can be tucked into the seat where the upper and lower halfs meet so you don't see it

This!!!! All kidding aside, my daughter is still in a rear facing and I have extended seat protectors installed so she doesn't mess up my seats. I will be looking for a similar solution in the next few months when she turns 2 and I move her to forward facing. We run a tight ship and she is pretty well behaved at 21 months, I don't think she will be kicking the seats excessively when I tell her not to but it's likely to happen eventually/accidentally as she gets longer. The S4 is tight on room so there is bound to be contact at some point.... my Denali is a different story as there is a ton of room between the rear seats and front seats.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother - I bought my car new six years ago just before my first son arrived. Flipped him forward-facing at 18 months - 4 years of kicks since then, and the seats still look new after a quick wipedown.

For that Brica one does the top strap have a "snap" or is it stretchy elastic?

I had ordered this Britax one but the top strap had a buckle / clip that snaps at the top that was imprinting on the leather headrest: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also couldn't get the bottom elastic strap to tuck down far enough between the seat crevice so I ended up returning it. I will give this Brica one a shot.

Don't mean to hijack but somewhat related topic (i had tried resurrecting an older thread but didn't get responses)

Anyone have experience/suggestions on an infant carrier that fits in the S4? (ie. rear-facing seat that clicks into a base as part of a travel system). Haven't gone to a store to actually try fitting yet but right now i think the contenders are the chicco keyfit or the uppababy mesa... additional comments on whether these fit in the middle or if they have to go behind one of the seats would be greatly appreciated as well!

I don't recall the brand I had but I put it in the middle and I don't think it would have fit on the sides without the front seat waaaay up.

Any other tips from S4 parents? My fiancé is 5 mos pregnant with a baby girl so we are starting to get things ready. Especially me with the S4. Any other tips? Definitely gonna invest in the Brica kick mats when the time comes but anything else? I had been looking at using a mat/towel to protect the rear seat from being indented by the child seat

I put Diono mats in both my cars as I noticed the car seats were starting to stretch the leather. Cheap and useful insurance for your interior.

I use a full "dog hammock" so it catches all the sand and dirt off their shoes as well. My twins are animals and could reach the back of the center console, so that was protected as well.

This is not a very fun or interesting topic, but we are having our first kid next month. I went to a free appointment with a baby seat install instructor at our hospital today, and was cringing when we attached the base to the Alcantara seat. This is gonna leave a mark was going through my head the whole time.

Searched this forum, and this thread seemed most relevant. Also looked through a ton of Amazon reviews. Some of these protectors can melt into the leather (it's hot in Denver)?

I ordered this and am hoping it will save the back seat and not melt: http://a.co/1LCAgft

Any other advice or suggestions for accessories to protect the car with a new baby? Looking into a dog hammock as mentioned above, but figure that can wait another 6 months or so.

Put a thick towel under and behind the base to prevent marks and catch spills. If you do not allow your new baby to ever eat or drink in the car, all you can really worry about is vomit...and if its going to happen, not much you can do about it. And the leather is more susceptible to marks and indentation than the Alcantara is.
