    Fixing broken sun visor clip/hook

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I broke the little clip/hook on the passenger side sun visor (on the left side of it) where it attaches to the headliner. Doh.

I called my dealer and it seems like I've ordered the correct OEM part, part # 8W0857562A4PK. This is what I got: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...KQ4aAsSY8P8HAQ

It arrived and I can't figure out how to install it. Parts guy at dealer said he didn't think I'd have to remove the headliner to install it.

Does anyone have any suggestions? The part that broke on mine is the hook.

Edit: Found this thread in the A4 forum, but no explanation of how to DIY install: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...e-Part-amp-DIY

The clip is two pieces. There is a cover that you can pull off - use a small flat-head screwdriver if necessary. Then the part with the hook can be removed. No need to remove the headliner. In fact, you have to remove the sun visor hooks if you are going to remove the headliner.

I was having trouble with this repair for 10 minutes, not being able to remove the first outer cover. The trick for me was only pulling/prying under the very edge of the cover. When I inserted the screwdriver too far under the cover I was pulling on both pieces of the assembly , I thought I might break it if I used more force. Once I discovered to only pry the first 1mm edge it came apart very easily.

Wife broke mine. The outer cover contain plastic pins that lock the latch to the car. Once the outer cover is off the latch can be installed and removed easily.

Sounds like they beat me to it! This takes all over 3 minutes to replace. I'd avoid using anything hard like a screw driver, but it will do the job.

Get just under the edge of the clip. The outer portion will come off and the inner portion (that actually fastens into the body) will be loose. The outer portion actually holds the two pieces into the holes in the roof.
Remove the inner portion, install new one, then install new outer portion. Make sure you fully click it into place or it will just fall out.

I just replaced my driver's side clip. Took less than a minute. The above posts are correct. Once you take the old clip out you will see how it all works. Pretty cool design.

I'm guessing this is a good example of how it works: (Doesn't specifically say year - but seems like the correct method)

Or here is another: (Looks similar - but shows use of Interior Tools vs Pick)

Thanks for saving me the time and effort of making this post lol and finding the part. My passenger side one has been broken for awhile and it annoys the hell out of me. Ordering. :)

Shortly after I bought my car the passenger side broke - dealer replaced for free.... fast forward to 2020 - driver side broke....

I just went with this part from Amazon: (late night search with next day delivery made it worth a try):
RunMade Audi Visor Clip from Amazon

2 Secs to pry off outer cover and then pull down clip easily - new one went in with zero issues.

New one is close in color (not OEM Part - so close enough) - and seems to hold visor nicely - we'll see how this one lasts.
