Just checked my gapping on my ngk ruthenium plugs they were advertised as 0.32” pre gapped and I checked all 4 and they were gapped at 0.28”. Seems to be what I need just found it weird

There are alot of issues with the IE tune for the B8/B8.5 that IE refuses to address. We have had probably a dozen members on here with similar issues and IE just tells them its their car.

Probably because the gap will widen modestly as the plug ages so the pros I know gap it on the low end of the spec range.

A lot of people I know in the racing world are running Iridiums. Since my car isn't tuned I just run the OE NGKs. Running tunes complicates things because you can have issues even if you aren't explicitly getting misfires. Has to do with longevity and ignitability as things change when you start to modify boost levels, air-fuel ratio (running more rich), etc. Need to check the temp ranges, etc. Might need to try different plugs, etc. Your tuner probably has an opinion on this.....

I contacted IE about my midrange problem on my tune and told them im running ruthenium plugs. they basically told me its the plugs and the gapping. I don't know why IE can't satisfy there customers and bite the bullet and send out a remap version of there tune and fix the problems... is apr or revo a better option for the tune? too bad they don't offer at home running...

what other problems/issures have they reported? I will gladly fight to get this resolved and try my best for everyone as well. my car was perfectly fine prior to tuning.

I had Revo on my Porsche 911TT when I bought it from this spoiled little brat. I ended up taking it off. It's complete trash.

Poor mid range performance, boost not meeting requested, hesitations, etc etc. I believe it was iceman they had that poor guy tightening his wastegate, loosening it, tightening, probably 5 times. lol

It would probably say "thanks". I returned it back to OE after it was having problems and wouldn't pass emissions.....and ever since it has had zero issues and is the best car I have ever owned. I had to take it to a "Revo authorized" shop where I had to pay 1 hour labor to show a 16 year old how to load a flash .ROM file on a laptop and then flash the ECU to take it off because Revo said it wasn't possible. So anyway, Revo is complete trash in NYC on a hot sunny day, prove me wrong. Go.........

any love for apr tunes? poor iceman lol haha I am feeling the lack of midrange but my waste gate and shaft is perfectly fine! Ive been eye balling the apr tune and with the current situation the Canadian dollar and American is almost at par to make a switch.

APR makes a good tune, but they don't do stage 2 anymore. Its either stage 1 or K04.

if you would have to pick between apr and IE for reliability power and issues , what would you choose?

APR hands down has been show to be a better tune. Alot of the fastest cars on here are either APR or custom tuned like myself.

pulled a data log..got a max mass air flow reading of 205g/s which is roughly 256hp crank. seems low for a b8.5 stage 1 with outside temp of 30 deg celcuis. I am convinced the b8 and b8.5 have different ecu mappings and IE claims they are the same....im really getting annoyed by this. I just went with IE for the convenience of tuning at home.

205 g/s does sound pretty low. I get more than that just running a piggyback Neuspeed Power Module.

I used the data logger from IE and under air mass the max I got was 205...if I can't hit 270hp ill just switch and go with apr... I don't understand how u can just blame someones car.

Check all of your charge pipe connections for leaks including the MAP bung.

Post up log of boost actual vs spec and wastegate duty cycle.

    What is your altitude?

What would be the best way for me to post my datalog so I can get the same issue fixed or lead in the right direction for a fix ?

honestly it seems to be better, but its still there. I have to do a correct datalog. Honestly it seems to act up during the day when its hotter out and seems to mellow out when its cooler. this is what i bought from fcp Audi VW Spark Plug (BKR8EIX) - NGK 2668

IE should see this as it is clearly not a spark plug issue…

ive taken 2 datalogs a day apart. from 205g/s I went down to 180g/s same exterior temperature and pull.... my cam tensions is at -4.5 degrees as well if that changes anything. they say maybe my Maf is dirty, what is the recommended way in cleaning it?

Another data point. Going the other way around.
    B8 A4 2.0T 200KM (125K Miles) bone stock.
I had the NGK BKR8EIX for about 80KM (50K Miles) and ordered and swapped them out to NGK PFR7S8EG. The engine seems a little happier and it's a little more responsive. Slightly quicker to have the rpms fly up on neutral as well. Will see gas mileage in the next few weeks.

Here is a photo of my old plugs
