Sirius radio stuck on "LINKING", No sound coming through.

Hello all, I am having a problem where my sirius radio just says "LINKING" and will not play any music. Once in a while it will play for a few seconds, then immediately cut out and go back to "LINKING", has anyone had this issue before? I'm guessing it might be the antenna or the module itself. Thanks in advance.

Couple of things you could try:

    1. Refreshing the unit as described here on the Sirius website.

    2. Try resetting the cable connections on the unit in the trunk. That's mentioned in this thread as a possible solution. It's the lower unit with the green and white connectors.

Let us know what you find out the problem is!

I'd try the three finger solute for MMI. It's the hard reset option for the radio/MMI. You'll need to look it up, but depending on what year your car is, you'll hold, 'menu', the top right action key and the main button all at the same time and it will turn off/on your MMI, resetting it.
That's what I'd try first actually before unplugging replugging a bunch of wire harnesses in the back of the car.

Make sure you have a clear line of site to the sky as well. Don't try and do it in an underground parking garage or anything like that.

Thanks for all of the replies. I tried everything mentioned and it still says "LINKING". It will cut in and out every once in a while, then stay on LINKING for a while. I called SiriusXM and they didn't really help me at all. They were trying to get my to buy a subscription. Why would I buy a subscription if the radio isn't even working. I may have to go to the dealer.

If you have already tried everything I would just take it into the dealer at this point. Super annoying but I had to do this for mine last summer. You probably have the same issue that I faced. I was in your shoes and tried everything under the sun to fix this problem.

I took it into Audi and it turns out the receiver/shark fin connection was bad. That's what is wrong with yours too I'd bet, since everything else has been ruled out. IIRC it is a pretty labor intensive job but it was all under warranty and they replaced a few wires and the antennae itself.

Did you have to leave your car for a few days or were they able to fix it same day?

I don't think it's the car, I had the same exact problem yesterday. Started on my morning commute and happened on the way home as well. 16 Allroad

I have a 15 S4 and it was working fine.
It started doing the exact same thing about 1 week ago.
When I look at timing the following have happened before that timeframe:
1 I had the ECU recall done right before this started
2 I'm in San Diego and we have had a lot of rain in the past couple of weeks. I was wondering if water got into the antenna?

We had a lot of rain here in NY also. I made an appointment with the dealer, hopefully it's an easy fix. It's only the Sirius that doesn't work, AM, FM and the CD player work fine. Sirius has been permanently stuck on "LINKING" now for a few days.

Mine did it last week one day as well and then stopped, I think it was a signal issue

Yeah - I'm closer to NY than TX (CT) - and no issues with my Sirius at all recently - so could be a signal issue - but more likely a hardware issue.....

FYI - I have Sirius in multiple vehicles without any issues as well....

EDIT: Good plan to have it checked out by dealer....

They fixed it in one day. But IIRC it was a morning drop-off and a 6PM pick-up

Resolved itself after a week. Last Wednesday I had zero reception and decided to make an appointment to have it looked at. Magically, the next morning it started to work again and had been solid ever since.

Mine also, but then went out again for a day, now its back again. I've reset it a few times, unplugged everything twice and had sirius re-send the signal 3 times. I have an appointment for next week. If it keeps working, i'll cancel it.
