Rotors - Brembo vs Zimmerman ?

    Hi,

I have a 2013 Audi Q5 Premium Plus 2.0L (AWD ) and I need to decide between putting on Front and Back Rotors . I know this has been discussed a lot many times in Different forums, but the usually it mostly ends up with people saying that both are of same quality.

I would like to know which ones are better ? I would . really appreciate if you could answer the question in the following aspects as well:-

    1.) Rusting
2.) Material Rotors are made out of
    3.) Coating ( Z coated ( Zimmermann ) v/s UV Coated ( Brembo ) )
    4.) Braking Performance
    5.) Wear and Tear

Also I am confused as to which coating is better Z coated or UV Coated .

    Hope to hear soon .

I'm surprised no one has responded to you. Feedback on rotors has varied over the years.

The Z-Coat is less prone to rusting in the contact-free areas of the rotors. Since the Brembo's aren't coated, they will rust in the areas which do not come in contact with the pads.
Both brands of rotors are likely to be made of the same material. I don't see how one manufacturer can cheapen on metallurgy. Mind you, both brands are OEM's to German Car Manufacturers
I don't have any experience with UV-coated Brembos, but I've been using Z-coated Zimmermann's for 3 years now without any problems. Recently switched over to Brembo's just to give them a try as the front rotors.
Braking performance suffers when mated with Ceramic Brake Pads (Akebono's). I still use them to mitigate brake dust. However, you do get better braking performance with semi-metallic even after the ceramic pads are bedded in. There is no debate there.
I would expect Brembo's and Zimmermann's to wear and tear at almost the same rate. Depends on the driver's braking habits in the first place.

Z-Coat is only prevent rust in certain areas for a finite time. Rotors are rotors, once they wear, they need to be replaced.
