Cost to install springs and shocks/ struts

Ok so I have been pricing the labor to install my HR and Koni Shock/ struts. I think the shops are out of their minds but maybe it is me. Can you guys clear up who is crazy... I have been quoted anywhere from $900 to $1100 (approx 8.5 a 9 hours of labor). Is this fair price? I remember the days when it cost me 500 for the springs installed on my GTI (I know this a much more complex car but damn).

I had mine done at a local tuning garage for $475 with alignment included in the price. They generally quote that fixed rate for their suspension installs.

I would pay that. Need to find a shop in charleston, Sc that would do it for that.

9 hrs to install? You need to find a better mechanic....

For that price you can get air suspension installed with a clean set up...

Local shop to me will install springs or coilovers for $250. Standard alignment is $125, $150 if coilovers due to corner balancing. 3-4 hours for install and alignment. I must buy the parts from them and am limited to H&R, Eibach, Koni, and Bilstein. Their prices for springs/coilovers are very comparable to the best prices online.

I was quoted $400 from another place if I brought in my own springs or coilovers and would still need an alignment after that.

    Hope this helps.

I got my coils installed for $350 here in California without alignment. However, my buddy was quoted ~8 hours/$600-$800 when he tried to get his H&R springs installed.

I agree that's too expensive, but cheapest price isn't always the best option. I don't mind spending more for a more reliable and experienced shop.

$500 for me. That included alignment and mounting and balancing wheels/tires. I also had him throw in some ceramic brake pads as well while everything was apart.

This is a long shot but what's the name of the shop or your mechanic. I want to install HR springs and Bilstein shocks and struts. I also live in Long Island.
