What kind of valve?..if it's one like forge bov..the bottom part where the piston is goes on the pressure side(the hose coming from the turbo). And it's the (factory it goes the opposite way).

not sure if there are any tricks but i take pics before and just start pulling stuff apart. on the 1.8 the diverter is down low towards the passenger front of the radiator so you can get to it from underneath.

Hi i dont know if you have changed it yet... But i have changed mine before and also added a bov (Blow off Valve)

Its fairly easy... I would start off by jacking the car up and placing it maybe on bricks and etc if you dont have money on your side to get those fancy holders thats holds your car up after you jacked it...

Then you wil need to loosen your splash plate... Its also a very easy job it is intacked with about 6 screws... But usually the screws falls out so when you see there is 2 screws dont fall off of your chair lol... Then slide the splash plate out... Usually slide it to the rear direction and its not that heavy... Maybe 2kg at most i say...

Its time to look for the diverter valve... My cars exhaust and the turbo is on the left hand side when looking at the car from front so thats where the diverter valve is... You will see when your underneath the diverter valve is stairing at you its on the turbo but behind the radiator...

So now to loosen it... You should loosen 3 screws... But note they will be tight... Because if it isnt you will loose turbo boost... Also the space is horrible... Like really really horrible... Also make sure your car is cold when doing it otherwise your hands will be cooked afterwards and because of the heat the screw will stretch in size a bit so you are going to strugle even more... My first time it took me 2 hours just to get it off... I recomend a small ratchet but i cant remember the screw size... But you will need an extention... If the extention is to small... You wont be able to turn the ratchet as it will bump the diverter valve... If to long you wont get it on the screw as the engine will be in the way... So you might strugle a bit at begining...

If you want to you can just unclip the cable connected to the diverter valve... You just pull back on the small lever... I recomend if it is possible to remove it... Do it sothat you dont damage the cable because that can be big problems lol

Then from there on remove 3 screws... Diverter will fall out so be careful and catch it but just make sure all the seals (O rings) are on the diverter aswell as the new one you are installing... So then its all over again... Tighten the 3 screws very tight... Then you add the cable clip again... You tighten your spalsh plate and jack your car down...

But note... With my car it didnt happen... After you install the diverter your car wil maybe shake for a few gears as the diverter is new and gaining action... So when it happens dont think you broke your car... Even maybe at the second gear it will stop after putting your foot flat...

But that is it... I hoped it helped

Some last recommendation... Get a piston diverter as they dont tear like the oem ones... Also if you want to just add a bov its going to make your car sound beautiful everytime your turbo releases air... Like mine makes a thu thu thu noise... The bov just comes between your diverter and the turbo and they give longer screws with it... Process is the same

I would get a DV! Our motors are designed to use diverter valves. If you are worried about harmful vapors and other things, then I would invest in a catch can. There is plenty of info on catch cans and they work very well. In addition, DVs are very easy to install. I have a quattro b6 1.8t and the DV is right in the front by the bottom of the motor. All I have to do is jack it up, take off belly pan, and remove 3 hoses. Of course, if you never done this before and if you have the stock DV then you will most likely have one time clamps which are a PITA. There is a DIY in the DIY thread for the DV also i found a bunch on YouTube. I recommend getting a 008 Forge and putting the stiffest spring in. I would especially do this if you're planning to get a APR (or whatever company) tune. Before the tune I could kind of here the Forge DV with the windows down and music off but now with the tune as well exhaust and HFC...I can hear it very easily. It's much louder then before! I more than doubled in boost when I did my APR stage +1 tune so i'm sure the OEM plastic DV would have busted from the increase in boost. Hope this helps!

A place between here and there

I made a DIY, but photobucket f*cked the DIY up. Look up Seerlah on photobucket for pics. Not going to fix what they f*cked up.

Ehh sorry I know this is an old thread but, do you guys know what size clamp to use for the small hose? There's a one time use clamp so I'd need to replace that, need to get this done by the end of the weekend so I can get my APR Stage 1+ flash. Gotta install the injectors in the parking lot before the tune as well lol, looks relatively easy so no big deal I guess
