Exclamation Help! Brake fluid leaking out of back side or rear caliper!

the other day i basically lost all brakes and brake fluid was leaking out of the rear passenger side. thought it was a brake line. but it looks like its leaking out the back of the caliper where the handbrake bolts on. my handbrake worked perfectly fine thats the thing. Someone please help me as I have no idea what to do. Rebuild or new caliper? I cant even find the seal for that spot online.

The handbrake is mechanically driven...so it would work irrespective of a a fluid leak.

As for the leak itself, you should remove the caliper and inspect it to determine the exact cause. Since you claim to "have no idea what to do" I would suggest bringing the car to a competent mechanic as brakes are an important safety item. Replacing the entire caliper is probably the easiest and quickest option.

    Pictures would help.

You can get reman'd rear calipers very inexpensive after core charge... definitely easier/quicker than rebuilding. And as suggested, brakes aren't something to mess with if you aren't sure what you're doing.

    This may help---
The offending seal is item-5 you'll also need to replace the dust seal item-8
The rebuild kit is available at ECS for some $34 for BOTH sides

Check out the AUDIWORLD B5 forum---there's a DETAILED DIY on how to do this and what to check while the caliper is apart...
I'm too lazy to find that for ya :)
Have some fun---It's not that involved a job.

X2 on the seal there. Mine only went 5 times with shitty China reman items. Get them new from TRW here: http://germanoem.ca/parts/brakes/cal...5424c-trw.html

Once you convert to USD from CAD, you'll see it's really cheap to just get them new

I meant like I didn't know what to do whether get a new caliper or rebuild. I've done way more than brakes on my car. If I couldn't do this I wouldn't own a stage 3 car

Buy the new one I linked and save yourself the hassle of rebuilding. Why rebuild when you can have new from a REPUTABLE company like TRW for not much more?

Last I read, the rear caliper rebuild is a pain in the ass
