I'm not sure but have you seen the weight of the new R8 wheels?

18.7lbs for the fronts and 22.2lbs for the rears is insanely light for an OEM 20" wheel!

Haven't seen this info out there. Maybe hit up this ebay seller and ask the weight of the single wheel they are selling. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Original...ZYSYeF&vxp=mtr

Best reference I could find for that part number (4G8601025AR) is 15.38Kg so 34lbs. https://www.online-teile.com/volkswa...486247816cf281

Is there anything you've seen to indicate the RS7 Performance wheel weight should be any lighter than the standard RS7 wheel weight? I think the logical starting point is to assume these weigh about the same as the other Audi 21X9 wheels. The ones on my S8 weigh 35 lbs each. Widebodyfx gives some good info. But you may just have to roll with the assumption these weigh what Audi 21X9 wheels typically weigh.

I just checked Audi Australia website and it was stated clearly on the website that the 21" wheels in RS7 Performance are cast aluminum so I would say they are about the same weight as 21" rotor wheel in RS7.

You guys mean to tell me somebody pays all that money for a top of the line RS7 "Performance" model and it not only comes with CAST pistons but cast wheels as well?!?! How much money do we have to spend to get forged pistons and forged wheels?!?

Yep, there are only a handful of forged audi wheels. And to put a further point on it, specifically on RS's and S's basically assume won't be the forged type. One of the ways they rejigger the cost numbers in adding other items to the car. As pointed out, only (some of) the R8 wheels are forged, and then really light too.

From my perspective all the 21 OE's are porkers said bluntly. Stripped them off my S8 and went back to one of the 20 OE forged sets--the lightest one at 28.0 lbs. at 20 x 9. Took out 9 pounds per corner. And yep, pretty quickly figured out same problem goes for the RS7 wheels. If you have the CCB's on an RS7 I think you are probably pretty stuck on the 21" size, but otherwise can get to the 20's in theory. RS7 offsets are also somewhat more aggressive though IIRC.

Failing any other way to identify them, if you find the part number and ET spec. "cast" into the back of the wheel, usually on the back of a spoke, it's a cast design. If machine stamped into the wheel, typically these days around the hub center area and in past sometimes on the inside face opposite the rotor hat, then it is typically forged in OE. The forged ones usually have a polished or machined face, but on occasion I recall some of the cast ones can masquerade that way. Then look for stamped vs. cast into the wheel for part #'s.
