    Stuck Accelerator Pedal!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Was driving last night on the freeway and I mashed the gas pedal a little bit and it got stucked. It wouldn't come up again. The throttle was just going. Luckily, the freeway was kinda empty. Had to brake hard and pull over to the side and turn of the engine. And I had to reach down and pull the pedal out. I have a B7 3.2tip. Has this happened to anyone else?

No, sorry to say... That sucks! Did you get a chance to look down there to see what caused the pedel to get stuck?

Have you changed the stock floor mats? That happened to me too, but I had previously replaced the stock floor mats for sisal mats, and the mat moved forward and got stuck on top of the pedal and that is what caused the accelerator to get stuck.

I changed the mats to a rubber one. But that is OEM and it is buttoned down, so there is no way it would move. Someone mentioned that if you step on the brake, the ECU will detect it and adjust the throttle, it didn't do it in this case. I'm bringing it this morning to the dealer to see whats up.

It was me that mentiond about the brakes and gas on at the sametime, the engine should cut out if the brakes are applied while the gas pedal is depressed, or so it was with my previous A4.

Dude, glad you're OK. Let us know what the dealer says as I think it would be useful for everyone to hear.

Uncontrolable acceleration was a problem with Audi's in the late 80's. People used to get run over. No joke.

This was because people were too stupid to remember to put their foot on the brake before shifting into Reverse or Drive. That's why all automatics have a 'shift-lock' mechanism.
