    2016 A7 Build Thread??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ok so in an effort to push myself to do this before I chicken out I am starting a build thread for my 2016 A7. We'll see if I go down in flames!

It's a beautiful car and I love it. It has the black optics and s-line package and is fairly loaded. I love the wheels and will not change them. I was trying no to get carried away since I commute about 75 miles a day round trip, so I stayed away from the S or RS models and like many say when they get here I wish I would have grabbed the S7. Probably go S7 or even S8 in a few years when the kids get bigger.

So my plans are to add the Alu Kreuz stabilizer, 034 rear sway and end links, an AWE intake and touring exhaust. I won't tune because I want to keep as much warranty as possible. I plan to have 034 Motorsport do most of the installs as they are local to me.

I'm also going to get the expel stealth wrap which should look great with the silver floret.

I want Tag Motorsports black rings front and back and will otherwise debadge the car. Also adding the front license plate delete filler plate.

Wish me luck and some crappy before pics!

    Update 3/3/2017

    Pretty much done for now

    Done:
    Front license plate delete
Washer jet upgrade - don't think it helped
    Black rings front and back
    Debadged all other badges
    Alu Kreuz
034 rear sway bar and end links
    Injen intake
    AWE exhaust and resonated downpipes

I will not be doing a matte wrap.

Beautiful car. Stealth wrap with those wheels will look fantastic. Some are not fans of black wheels but I'm telling you, with that color car, gloss black with your same wheels would look so damn good! Would compliment the black optics package well. Would only cost about $400 too

Floret would have been my first choice for an RS7 with carbon optics exterior pack with Suzuka Grey 2nd but Sepang has worked out well. Great choice and good luck with the mods.

Great color. Was curious because pic#1 has a blue tint in that light. My RS5 was Prism Silver. I think I like the Floret better

For those who are checking should I get gloss or semi flat black rings from Tag?

Placed order with Tag Motorports today for the gloss black front and rear rings. I'm removing the A7 and 3.0T badges. I do like the side badges but those are going too.

Idk but I personally am not a fan of black rings. I like the reset of it black but just the rings in chrome. But looking at most builds, it looks like I'm the only one who likes the chrome rings.

Matte or gloss rings. I'd definitely go with gloss.

Moving forward. Ordered AWE exhaust, intake, I'm on the AK group buy and going with 034 rear sway and end links. 034 will do the install.

I've done the license plate delete and black front rings from TAG. I'll debadge this weekend and add rear black rings. Still haven't figured out how to remove the Quattro badge in front. Seems like it has indents maybe for a screw driver from the back?

I've also done about 10 VCDS changes so pretty happy at the moment.

I'm with ya. Chrome rings leaves some much needed contrast on a murdered out front end.

Yeah I've been wondering about going for black rings but think the chrome breaks it up a bit.

I'd go for carbon if I could but don't like hydrodipped stuff

    Exactly. Chrome breaks the monotony.

And OP. What are the 10 VCDS mods you did? Since we have the same specs, I'm guessing I could try some on my car too.

Agreed. That's why I ordered Nardo front rings for my black optics grill. Will provide the needed contrast without having to sport random chrome on my car that wouldn't match anything.

For what it's worth the Quattro badge isn't really removable without removing the whole grill I was able to get the first part with the lettering off but the housing is sandwiched inside the grill.

I'm going to try to very carefully cut it out but I would definitely not recommend trying to remove it to anyone.

Got the Quattro badge off. Wow it was a pain. Literally broke half off then had to cut the rest off without f-ing up the grill. But like it a lot without!!

The VCDS mods I did are below. The start stop off by default, the lane assist timing, trunk close with remote and default ACC distance are all big deals to me and the rest mostly just for fun.

    1) Enable window closing with remote (opening is already an option in MMI)
    46 - Cent. Conv.
    Adaptation - 10
    Channel 62
Change value from 8738 to 48059
    Test
    Save

    2)Changed Taillight on with DRLs
Tail lights on with front DRLs
    [Select]
    [09-Central Electric]
    [Coding - 07]
    [Long Coding Helper]
Click on byte 2 and enable bit 7

    3)Enabled lane assist timing.
    8E - Image Processing
    Security Code: 20103
    Adaptation
Menu for time of assisted steering
    Activate

4)Enable coming home/leaving home function DRL
    [Select]
    [09 Central electric]
    [Coding - 07]
    [Long coding helper]
Click on byte 6 and disable bit 4

    5)Disable Seatbelt Chime
    [17 - Instruments] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 0
Bit 2-4 – Seat Belt Warning inactive

    6) Adjustment of the seat heater level lowering time (level 3 to 2)
    [08] HVAC
Adaptation : Time until heated seat power withdrawal stage 3 to stage 2
    Adjust value (default 10min)
(Value 0 = no automatic lowering)

    Changed to 20

7)Changed ACC default setting menu enabled
Change the Adaptive Cruise Control Preset distance
    [Select]
    [13 Distance Regulation]
[Adaptation - 10] --> Distance Basic setting option
    Change from off to on

    8)needle sweep
    Enable Gauge Test/Needle Sweep
    [17 - Instruments] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1
Bit 0 - Check the box for "Gauge Test/Needle Sweep active"

    9)Trunk close active see pic
Go to Module 46 (cent convenience), coding, long coding helper
byte 2, bit 2 "Comfort operation: Remote control active" should be checked, so no need to change it, just confirm that it's set.
No Change, Original Coding: Bit 2 checked
Then got to module 6D (Trunk Electrics), security access and enter security code "12345". Then still in Module 6D, click Adaptation, channel
and there are 8 options for "Activation using rear lid. . .". Change the two "number 4" settings to active.
    Original Coding:
(1)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for opening: not active
(2)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Tap function for opening: active
(3)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key - Touch function for closing: active

(3)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Touch function for closing: active
(4)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch - Tap function for closing: active

10)Set start stop to default to off to 16 from 20
    Disable/memorize/invert Start & Stop:

    - module 09-Cent. Elec.
    - enter Security Code (20113)
    - Adaptation on Channel 34:
subtract 4 to the value --> Start&Stop always disabled
add 32 to the value --> memorize last status (the Start & Stop status at engine startup will be the one at last engine shutdown)
    - test & save
In addition of these values, if you add 64 to the value, the Start & Stop button light will be reversed: off if Start & Stop is disabled, and on if Start & Stop is enabled

    Change from 20 to 16

    2016 A7 Build Thread??

After living with the black rings for a couple of days. I have to say I think they go perfect with the black optics package and the gloss horizontal lines and gloss grill surround. I should have the rest of the car debadged and the new rear black rings done this Friday.

You have the HUD, did you turn on lap timer and gear selection?

Enable Automatic Gear selection shown in DIS
    [02 – Auto Trans] [Adaptation – 10]
Select “Single Gear Display” from top channel drop down menu
Select “D on/S on” from New value drop down menu

Enable Lap Timer Shown in HUD- also enables shift light
    [17 - Instruments] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1
Bit 3 - Check the box for "Lap Timer active"

Beautiful car! I rather do a stage 1 it is so much worth it and totally change the car you won't regret. You can do EPL tune and you may even get away with it

Is there a stage 1 tune available for the 2016 3.0T in the A7?

I believe no. However, Chipwerke should work on ypur car for stage 1. You can even upgrade your pulley and go stage 2 with CW. I've seen great power numbers and low time slips in the B8 forum with CW stage 1 and 2.

Just dropped off the car for debadging and replacing the rear rings with the Tag gloss black rings.

I have my AK and just waiting for AWE to ship my exhaust and intake so that I can have it all installed at 034.

    2016 A7 Build Thread??

Debadged the car yesterday. Despite going with one of the top shops in town and telling them not to pry the emblems off sure enough they pried the A off and chipped the paint. Of course said it was damaged under the emblem from the factory? It's literally the size of a pen point so it's not the end of the world.

As I said in another post I really don't like the spray pattern of the streams for the A7 windshield spray nozzle.

I read about a heated nozzle for the A6 that sprays a fan/mist pattern.

Just ordered the parts from ECS.

Part numbers are 4G0955987A and 4G0955988A.

I'll post pics once I install.

The rear of the 7's look so clean like that. Well done!

Sorry to hear about the paint chip

looks great! did you know Audi's sister Porsche gives buyers the options to have badges deleted and/or painted and to have taillights tinted when building new?

I wish Audi did the same. Anyway, love your debadged/black ringed A7!

Trust me I usually do this stuff myself and should have. You just can't pay people to care.

As I said it's tiny but annoying.

Just got an email from 034 all my parts have come in and now just tying to get the install scheduled. Hoping to have it done before next weekends Winterfest.

I'm having them install the Alu Kreuz, an AWE S-flow intake and the touring exhaust as well as the 034 rear sway and end links and the transmission mount insert.

    Can't wait!!!

Did both of these last night and very cool!

Does the boost gauge show anything for a supercharged car?

I also set my steering wheel to hotter but was surprised it was already set at 34 when I thought the factory default was 28. I just bumped it up to 35.

Think it was determined that on the SC cars the boost gauge was not the same as turbo cars, but the shift light is there.

Saw you asked about VIM on the facelift, the OBDEleven app worked on my facelift. It is an android only app but it worked and less expensive than the kufatec dongle. I ordered it thru their site and it took forever to get to the states. Unsure if there is an outlet that could get it over here faster.

Thanks I have VIM on my other car and never use it. It's mostly for the novelty of it. It something I would use much. But thanks for the links.
