Q7 3.0T GAS engine class action lawsuit

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was approached by a law firm about being a plaintiff in a new case for Q7's. Apparently there is an emission defeat in the gas engines as well, if you turn the steering wheel more than 15 degrees while testing, it disables the defeat and emits a significantly higher carbon level. I was wondering if anyone else has heard of this or been similarly approached?

    Thanks

I heard about it but nothing more than that. What vehicle do you have?

that is not what i am talking about.

It was described to me distinctly as an emissions defeat, similar to the TDI problem, and it is tied to steering angle. Ill keep you all posted.

Yep. Basically, the car defaults to a more economical shift map upon startup, and once the wheel is turned 15 degrees it reverts to the "normal" programming. So in real-world it's never being used. This was simply to fool emissions testing on a dyno.

"CARB found software that would recognize if the steering wheel was turned less than 15 degrees in either direction while in use. That would indicate that the vehicle was being tested. In response, the program would alter the way the automatic transmission shifted, adopting a more efficient driving mode. In the test results, it would show that the car was emitting less carbon dioxide than it did in normal use. When the wheel turned more than 15 degrees, this program would shut off."

VW is buying back my mother in laws 2013 jetta sport wagon TDI with only 14k miles, they gave her $28,450, they also offered her 8k of she wanted to keep it. She's basically getting all her money back. If they offer such a deal they can have my Q7.

Q7 3.0T GAS engine class action lawsuit

I just went through that for my A3 S-Line Premium Plus Sport Back TDI and this was my replacement car! Now it seems I will have to go through this all over again. The VW group hasn't even taken care of the 3.0 TDI vehicles yet (the hearing is coming up soon) so this may take a very long while.
