Flat bottom Steering Wheel Upgrade Issues B8 A4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
First of all i know there's so many threads out there for this problem. And im sharing this for someone else that might come across this.

I purchased a flat bottom 3 spoke steering wheel.

And then i purchased a new airbag.

And then i go to fit it, i noticed that none of connections match.

So from my research that i did, i was told that the b8 guys needs a "Dual Stage" airbag. So the seller made sure that it was a dual stage. Since no one was able to get me part numbers for the dual stage airbag, i purchased it and now im stuck with an airbag that doesnt fit my car. (For sale)

Now for anyone that has done this swap before, please chime in and help us get this straight.

Does anyone have photos of dual stage airbags and what are the part numbers.

    Thanks

i am in the same boat and i may, in fact, be a customer for your airbag.

what is the part number of your wheel? would it happen to be either one of these two:

    8U0124

    4H0124

Thanks for your input. So you purchased one from a b8.5 and it fit the b8 with that part Number?

Would you happen to have any photos of the rear of the airbag?

any idea what the differences are between the 8U and 4H wheels?

also, what is your airbag PN?

since you got an 8U and your airbag doesn't work then if i get a 4H maybe your airbag will work for me !?

Why not just de-pin the connectors and pin it into the proper connector?

I hear what you're saying but when you de-pin something like this, they may not go in properly for a perfect fit, and being that small i think your would have trouble doing that.

Plus, that goes into safety as well. The last thing i want is my airbag not to go off because it didnt make the right connection because i messed with it.

I know this is off the topic but do they make the round style airbags in gray colour instead of just black?

I've done it before. It's a pretty affirmative click when the pin goes into the connector.

when depinning, you pull out the pink or purple lock connecter inside, use a special terminal tool and the terminals pull out of the connector. You then insert them back in with an audible click if they are seated. The only risk is not pinning it in correct order. just get a diagram of what each wire does and match to the other one. The black connector is likely steering wheel controls

I think there is a vendor on here that sells harnesses
