    2008 to 2017 B8/ B8.5 Audi A5 and S5 - Recommended Tire Pressures

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Update 1 - Added tire pressures for 2009 to 2012MY A5 and S5 models (North America). Added 2012 to 2017MY Audi A5 tire pressures (AUSTRALIA).
    Update 2 (2016-Oct-24): Added Tire pressures for 2013 - 2017 A5 and S5 Cabrio models (North America).
    __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ______________________________

I have noticed that a lot of B8 / B8.5 A5 and S5 owners are clueless on the recommended tire pressures for their vehicles. Worse, they forget to look for the information in the Owners Manual. I am feeling generous today so here are the recommended tire pressures for the 2009 to 2017 B8/B8.5 A5 and S5:

Note: What is shown on the tire label on the B-pillar (driver door jamb) are maximum load tire pressures when the vehicle is fully-loaded most of the time. Fully loaded means more than 2 front passengers most of the time.

IMPORTANT: Always reset the TPMS system after you alter (add or reduce) the tire pressure for any reason (e.g., new tires) to prevent the system from giving you a false alert.

Hmm, interesting. My owner's manual doesn't specify pressures, referring one to the placard on the B pillar instead. Pressures specified for my 2.0 are 33/29 (normal) and 36/36 (max). Which reminds me - I haven't checked the pressures in the last week!

That's because Australians, Europeans etc. can handle a door sticker with all the information on it. The US government has determined that that's too complicated for the average American, so they require that only the max load tire pressure be put on the door sticker with a note to consult the owner's manual for more information.

Hey JW! My mistake. I should have mentioned that the tire pressures are for North American models. I will make the correction. In the meantime, if you let me know the recommended tire pressures posted in your car's B-pillar, I will add those to the tire pressure table for future reference.

Your wish is my command, plat:

I confess I'm curious to know why the recommended pressures would differ from region to region.

JW, thanks! I will add the Aussie tire pressures to the top post. I am curious to find out if the tire pressures for UK/Euro cars are the same as yours.

The differences may have something to do with climate differences since temperature affects air pressure. Altitude also affects air pressure but I don't think this is the reason. Just my guess...

Honestly, they probably just don't give the same level of detail regarding tire pressure based on occupancy numbers in America because our occupants are generally a lot heavier than other places. Just the other day I watched a car raise up about 4 inches after the fat ass owner clawed her way out of it. Fair to assume her Subaru's suspension wasn't going to last much longer.

FYI Tire Rack is adding a disclaimer to its XL/RF rated tires for 255-35-19's when shopping tires for the S5..

"Important Note: XL/RF tires required. Customer must maintain higher tire pressure levels of 42psi for proper load. *********PLEASE COPY THIS NOTE ONTO INVOICE************"

Always have kept them at 42 all round anyway, but it seems there is some kind of internal shredding that can happen inside the tire if it is driven at too low pressures for too long..Thus this notice.. Just a heads up..

I'm starting to think the tire pressures for the 3.2L V6 255/35-19 are wrong with being 33F/32R full load...considering the car is only 11lbs lighter than a 3.0T S5 which requires 38F/32R, been running 36F/35R at the moment to see what kind of wear I'll get, but just wanted to point that out.

What's the full load PSI printed on your car's door jamb sticker? 33F/32R for full load seems to be too low.

On the door jamb sticker it's listed for 18" wheels with 245/40-18 with 36F/35R, however in the manual for upsized wheels, for 255/35-19 it says 33F/32R for fully loaded car.

Yeah, I do not know what to say. The full load pressures listed in the Owners Manual seems to be wrong. I think you're on the right track trying out 36F/35R.
