2016 S6 Resale Values

I keep tossing around the idea of getting a 911. I really doubt it's going to actually happen any time soon, but hypothetically, what is resale like on '16's? I'd imagine I'd have to take a pretty big hit but it's hard to really gauge the market. My order sheet with exact specs:

The car has 16k miles, excellent condition (garage kept home & work). Just a hypothetical here.

I was originally looking for a lightly used 16+ S6 before I ended up ordering new. After looking for a bit, there isn't a ton of supply out there for C7.5 S6's (obviously we're still in 2016 so that's a factor). When I went into Audi Central Houston to tell them what I was looking for in terms of a used S6, they told me my chances of finding one with the options I wanted were slim to none. They also did not have a single S6 on the lot and they are one of the largest Audi dealers in the country (8 RS7s and 4 S7s on the lot). The salesman said they don't sell very many of them, they mostly sell S7 and RS7 in that category. The supply is limited so they hold their values pretty decently off the lot compared to a lot of other models. But you will take some sort of hit, of course.

I have a 2013 that stickered just a little higher than yours brand new. I paid about $60k for it in Feb 2015. Based on what I'm seeing on Cargurus and other sites, I'd say anywhere from $65-72k would be the range. I'm seeing similar MSRP'd cars with less miles for under $70k, so $65 might be the more realistic figure. The silver interior might hurt that figure a bit given the perceptions about keeping it clean.

Just a reminder if you trade it in its worth @ 4-5k in tax savings in the Garden State. May be close to what you can sell it for retail.

Always wanted a 911 cab, not selling it just yet, but just considering the possibilities :) Great car overall though - probably the longest I've kept any car in a long long time.

Knock-on wood, but I haven't done too bad with trading in cars after 9-12mo. The 9mo of Porsche Macan ownership cost me ~$7k. The 9mo of the Audi A7 ownership cost me ~$6k. If I get out of the S6 now, I'd be looking at about $900/mo in cost. That comes out cheaper than a 3 year lease on most of those cars and I'm able to get rid of it much sooner. That being said, it helps that NJ saves on tax when trading cars in and the cars I've gotten where all very "hot" with a strong resale market. The Porsche Macan I traded in was re-purchased from the dealer within 1h of me trading it in (I helped them find the buyer too).

In NJ, you just pay tax for the difference between your trade-in and the new car, so in most cases, I was paying a 7% sales tax on ~$5k = $350. The upgrade to the S6 was a little more I think, but still under $500 in tax. I also avoid any major maintenance costs (tires, breaks, 15k mi service, etc..) with this model :)

The problem I've hit now is I can't find anything better than the S6 to upgrade to (other than the 911 which is a big price jump and creates issues for the kiddies in the back seat).

Would love to get a 2017 CPO one (I know they are JUST coming out though). Hard to turn down a turbo 911 at a non-turbo price (base models come with turbo 6 cyl engines now).
