I've been looking at BFI shifters for a bit. These look incredible, but I am looking at a weighted knob for a better feel. What is the weight of this knob compared to the factory installed one?

    Very cool, few questions:

    1. Customizability speaking, is it possible to get a stitching color outside of what is offered (aka orange)

    2. While neat, my only concern is that this doesn't quite address the trim variance in our cars. Directly in front of this assembly is the ash tray cover which is conformed to whatever trim is in the car, which can vary from wood to aluminum fishscale to carbon fiber. Would be cool to include a replacement cover that matches this assembly to replace the OE cover for the ashtray.

    3. Have any installed pics? Trying to wrap my head around how that black surround to the aluminum looks once installed.

We have a light and heavy weight version (same looks on the outside).

Light weight is less then 100 grams.
Heavy weight is over 300 grams.

We have a unique way of accomplishing this on such a (relatively) small shift knob.
Means it is at the very top of the shaft exactly where you want it :)

    1. Absolutely, I have a very nice one laying around actualy, but we can't put everything we have in the drop down menu's or the list would be endless.
But I've been wanting to give it a try on something dark black just couldn't fine the time yet... that should really give a nice contrast.
You could even send your own upholstery for us to use, if you want it to match a custom interior for example.

    2. Firstly we design it to blend in with the original console in terms of size, shape and appearance, but to let it stand out on its own we give it a very nice brushed finish which combines very well with the other silves bits in the car and the different sort of trims.
Unfortunately the beaty of this finish seems impossible to capture in the pictures, it's actualy even much nicer in the flesh.

    3. We have had a B6 and B7 to take measurements and build prototypes, but they weren't really picture worthy.
However, we will have something even better soon as we will be shooting a movie with an RS4 with one installed :)

    Hope this answers your questions.

Thanks for the response! My interior is largely aluminum-less so I don't know if I could get this to work well in my car, but am interested to see pictures actually in the vehicle!

Should look a bit similar to the A3 (8P) with black trim then:

Actually really like this. Is the shifter plate gated?

I think you mean the gates such as in an R8?
These are actualy only aesthetic, the shift pattern is defined by the gearbox.
Only very few cars would allow this as it requires a very rigid shift linkage system and enough shift throw to still have some flesh between these gates.
On some cars it would already great a complete gap in the first place, let alone when there is a short shifter installed aswell.

Hope that answers your question :)

Do you know how much the OEM weighs? Very nice product, btw.
