Exclamation Does getting a Maaco paintjob make me a bad person

my 2010 is beat up from a paint perspective. The front has eaten all the rocks southern California has to offer. I want to just respray the entire car as the back and sides have minor scuffs as well.
I was quoted around 1700 for a full paint job w/ 5 year warranty and chip/dent removal.. from Maaco.

I've heard they're the Walmart of paintjobs, and have seen plenty of reviews showing they can do fine work for way less money.
Wraps around here are 2200 and up, so...

    Car is brilliant black.

Why not just get the front resprayed and then get a quality detail with two-step paint correction and coating over all? A good detail shop should be able to get the rest of the car looking new so long as you don't have deep scratches through the actual paint.

Figure about $400 to paint match the front bumper from a reputable third party shop, and around $1000 for a high grade paint correction and coating.

I would absolutely not take my car to Maaco. Also realize that a full respray does not always look good on resale. If you want, I would spend the money on a front and rear bumper respray.

I literally asked the guy at Maaco if they do paint correction and he told me he had never heard of it...
I'll look into that route thanks.

Someone has clearly never seen a budget paint job. Run away, run as fast as you can.

Paint correction is a detailing technique to remove imperfections (mostly from the clear coat). A good detailer can make even the worst swirls (think something almost as bad as taking a sander to your car) to a mirror-like shine. I've seen it in person. The local porsche and audi dealer will even sometimes send brand new cars in for a correction before being sold to their first owner. Talk about better than new paint.

Here is one shop in my area that I trust - Check out their paint correction services to get an idea of what I'm talking about: http://www.areteautosalon.com/paint-correction/

Yes, getting a Maaco paint job does make you a bad person. Lol. Just kidding. Listen to @SLU_S5. Get the front end resprayed by a reputable shop and then get a quality detail with two-step paint correction and ceramic coating. This is the route I took, and I also have a brilliant black S5. Now my paint looks amazing. Better than new. Then get a bunch of Adams products to take care of it.

I would never even consider MAACO on a fine car like the S5.

Our local Maaco shop actually does really good work. They don't have the same reputation here as they do everywhere else. They're actually the ones repairing my Evo. They previously worked on hail damage on the Evo and STI, and they did an amazing job in both of those cases. They're one of the only decent shops in town.

Now, if it came down to body work on my Audi, I'd still take it to the Audi certified shop in Denver. Because...Audi. I would trust Maaco for some basic PDR on the Audi though, but as much as I like them here I would still prefer my Audi go to an Audi certified shop for anything beyond PDR.

Depends on your maaco shop. One near me has a bit of a following in the classic car custom paint scene. BUT - they are charging for the work. Its not the basic respray service. That solution is not right for your car IMO unless you were just planning on making it a track day car.

Yeah, the basic respray service is mainly for people trying to sell a cheap car with a really shitty paint job, and wanting it to be more appealing of a purchase. We were quoted just over $3k to respray the areas of our car that won't be touched during this current body repair. That's the cost to match the quality of paint that they will be applying to the car. We could go and throw a $600 spray on the car, but it would be low quality.

So, aside from it depending on your local Maaco shop's quality and reputation, it also comes down to money. You get what you pay for, as they say.
