Will different tread depth affect the Quattro system?

Not talking about a dramatic depth difference, but a small one? Right now my tires are at 8/32 so still pretty new, however one tire has gone bad and causes a slight vibration. New tire would have 11/32 tread, so off by 3mm if I purchased new. Tire didn't start developing this issue until I was 1mm out of warranty claim, go figure. The vibration isn't bad enough to where drive ability is ruined but enough to know it's there, and at 8/32 it'll be awhile before I need to replace all four. I know quattro is sensitive but is it that sensitive over 3mm?

What tire brand/model has 11/32, I thought most performance tires were 10/32 new? Is it a winter tire?

I doubt it would be a problem, let a pro chime in to confirm though. Same result if someone got a flat, they wouldn't always replace all 4 tires of the others has 8/32 tread.

They are all-seasons, Yokohama AVID Sport A/S...yeah if 3mm difference is negligible that would be nice.

My fiance just had to do this. She ran over a razor blade in her S4, which left a nice big gash and popped her tire. All tires were at 7-8/32"

From what I read, I believe Audi specification is that within 4/32" you are fine, so we just bought an identical new tire at 10/32" and have had no issues, though this just happened Friday night...

Quattro's tolerance is 4/32". That's inches not mm. The difference between 8/32" and 11/32" is ~2.4mm, not 3mm just as a sidebar. Places like tirerack can also shave new tires down to the thread depth of your existing tires to stay within tolerance.

Make sure you rotate your tires for even wear.

That's good to know. I'll mental note that.

Tirerack has shaving service. They can shave the tire to whatever depth you want if you buy from them. That's what I did for my tire.
