    help! Accelerator pedal stops responding

after I drive the car throughout the day running errands at first it runs fine. it seems like after the car gets hot, the accelerator pedal stops working. Car idles fine, just when I push the pedal, nothing.

Audi ran their diagnostics, had a professional mechanic looking at it with them and they confirmed the problem with the codes it gave (don't know the codes) that the the ecu was bad and wasn't putting out the correct voltage accelerator voltage. Basically ecu was trash and to replace the ecu. soooo replace the ecu with a new one... still the same issue.

has anyone experienced this that can help?

My first guess would be the unit attached to the petal itself and gives information to the Ecu.

I don't think that's it though, wouldn't make sense that that pin would cause it only when the car gets hot.

    help! Accelerator pedal stops responding

Pin? Not sure what the part is called its not just a pin. Accelerator? I know because they sell a replacement that is supposed to allow the throttle to be more responsive. It's not a cable driven car.

And where are the pedals located? Right next to the downpipes and turbos. It gets hot down there. Not saying that's your issue but a starting point.

Should be able to check accelerator in vag com when it stops working. If it isn't responding in vcds, it's obviously the accelerator, connection in between, or Ecu. And you've changed Ecu. So start with accelerator

The codes would be helpful but as long as parts have been thrown, what about a throttle body? If one of the throttle position sensors wasn't reading properly you would get an epc light and limited RPMs.

If you look at the self study guide it breaks down how the EPC works.

FWIW, I had a connector with a broken retainer clip thing on my TB. It would back off after driving for awhile and I'd get an EPC light and limited throttle. A visual of such things is always a great place to start but hopefully the dealer has already verified wiring, etc...

I had a bad throttle body that would make the car feel like I was pumping the gas. It's not a common item to fail (throttle body) but it happens

1.8t, similar issue, new TB fixed it.

Throttle response was slower at first. Then it would intermittently work, and would only start working again after an ignition cycle.

EPC light would come on the entire time it stopped responding.

Replacement of TB with a known working unit and no more drops in throttle response.
