To be honest I am not 100% sold on the tips. IMO they are definitely better than OE, but personally too heavy, rough-touch powder coat finish, 3.75" is touch too big. They just look a bit too aftermarket for me.

I just ordered a set of these 3.5" (definitely without the fake Akra label). I had an Akra system on my 1M and loved the design on an Euro car.

I do like the CF as they would match my rear diffuser pretty good. look like a real "S" look. To each there own though as this is what this forum is for. I personally didn't weld my on because I change my mind like my underpants. I really like the CF ones and might go that route.

I got mine put on today. I ended up using AutoZone's loaner program for the tailpipe cutter, it worked pretty good. I'm really happy with the results! I ended up going to dinner with a friend who hadn't seen my car yet and he immediately commented on the exhaust tips and actually thought they were OEM.

Agree. Won't rust as stainless steel or what looks like the same titanium alloy Akra uses. I had real Akra tips on my BMW, and quality looks on par.

Just need to pick up a pipe expander tool to spread the inserts about 2mm

Becareful ordering just got mine in and they are 57mm inlet not 60mm as pictured showed. They do not fit as the pipe diameter on OEM exhaust is 60mm.


Now trying to find something else.

Just use an exhaust pipe expander tool on the tip to push them out 2-3mm

These tips were a b1tch to get on as size not quite right. Happy with results though as look more Euro. Also the silver highlight identifies the tips, where the all-black makes it difficult to see the quads.

I agree, they are sticking back a bit to far IMHO. Try 1/4" or 1/2" in and see how they look.

57mm inlet Will Not work!! the OD of our pipe is 59.40mm

My cut-off tips have OD = 57mm and ID of 54.5mm. That's why those aliexpress tips required expanding as they also had OD of 57mm, not the ID of 57mm. I'd say tips with an OD of 60mm would be ideal.

Also, for others doing this mod, when you cut off the tips make sure you do so where the round section is true... not too close to the oval tapered section as it isn't truly round.

Thanks. 90mm outlet is just the right size for the car IMO. Not too aggressive as we need to remember the S3 is a 4 cyl, not a V8 ;)

Yes. I got 57mm tips in error as I though the ID was 57mm, however it was the OD. I had to expand them. PITA as had to source bigger clamps too. If I had bought their 60mm (OD) tips it would have been plug & play. So get 60mm inlet.
Message the seller on this link as they are good as doing custom requirements (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2PCS-...6-dfa52d89b1e1)
