    Crankcase Pressure Regulating Valve

My 2013 S6 started making a loud whistle sound @ idle. It would go away with acceleration. Check engine light also came on. Took it in to the dealership Monday and it has a bad CPR valve which is under the intake and approx 7 hours of work to replace . My service advisor sent me a few pics of everything taken apart. Hope they get everything put back correctly!

I had a similar issue in mine last week. I just picked up a 2013 CPO with 39K miles on it. I got gas and pulled onto the highway. It made a very loud squealing noise, which I thought was the car next to me. It turned and I continued to hear the sound, with it getting louder during idle, just like you said. My CEL came on shortly after. I pulled into the driveway, popped the hood, and the sound was deafening to the point I couldn't pinpoint it.

I brought it in to the dealer and it turns out it was a leak in the oil separator. They replaced that along with a couple of gaskets. I've had the car back a week now and it's perfectly quiet now. I know the oil separator is related to the CPRV. Let us know what your guy says when it's all back together. I don't know how many hours of labor it took, but the separator is wedged under the turbos, so it could be difficult to get to.

EDIT: Checkout pages 16-20 in the PDF, if you haven't already. Very technical guide. I'm a mechanical engineer and find some of this stuff hard to follow. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...n-Turbo-engine

Here is a video of the sound it was making. It was unbelievably loud.

Mine sounded a bit different, so must be a different issue.

Got it back from the dealer today. Everything is working great. Man I'm glad that was under warranty........which expires in 4000 miles.....Has anyone purchased an extended warranty? Is it worth is? We have a very reputable independent high performance european auto shop in my town that is reasonably priced. I'm wondering if long term it's better to just take my chances and get my work done there.

    Thoughts?

My car started making the whistle noise last night, I did a bit of searching, could not find much info, would you know what part that was replaced. I called dealer asking for crankcase regulating pressure valve, or oil separator, both came up with nothing.
    Any help would be appreciated

I bought my car CPO and had this service done at 53k miles. At first Audi of West Houston refused to do it and wanted me to pay almost 2500 to get this fix because this isn't covered under CPO. I understand it takes 6 hours plus just for labor. I said this is BS because I bought my S7 at 43k CPO at Audi Central and its been only 10k miles since I have my car. Long story short, Audi Central called West Houston and they do it as a one time courtesy. Just my experience and beware.

Did they say why it wasn't covered under CPO? It is part of the drivetrain.
