I really wish the tuning shop here would get setup with APR already so I don't have to drive 800 miles (round trip) to get my kit installed... It's been sitting in my garage for weeks now. Sounds like APR hasn't emailed them back though.
I would happily pay APR or a dealer money to send me to the software and cable so I can click a few buttons after I have a shop install everything. Honestly though, how much "tuning" does an APR dealer do? Plug in a cable, open the software, select the car, select the tune, click install, wait a few minutes, drive around the block, and then charge the customer for the tune (and sometimes labor)? I completely understand the selling and installing parts. I also understand that there are technical hurdles to overcome to prepare software for the public to use. But from my understanding, this isn't a car getting put on a dyno and tuned, this is someone clicking a few buttons.
$5,500 Turbo kit + $1,500 Fuel kit + $500 Mid Pipe + $500 DSG Tune = $8,000 and now all I want is to be able to have a shop I trust install the parts. But if I do that, I have to tow my car 400 miles so someone can plug a cable into my car and click a few buttons. Or I drive my car 400 miles to have the parts installed by a shop I've never been to, and then drive my car 400 miles back. Then if an update to the tune comes out, time to drive another 800 miles.
Obviously I made the mistake of getting something that is dependent on location, for it to not be inconvenient. If my stock turbo hadn't blown, I probably wouldn't have got this kit due to the fact I don't live close to an APR dealer. Luckily Audi replaced the, but I didn't think they would since I was tuned. The Eurodyne tune wasn't detected though after flashing back to stock.
Hell maybe I will just sell the kit to someone that lives close to an APR dealer...
