2014 Vs. 2015 RS5

Any major differences in the '14 to '15 model RS5 in suspension, handling, standard equipment, ect??
Was looking for a used '15, but my choices widen when I bring the '14's in.

same for 13's. there are no material changes between production years - just different wheel and color options. Disregard model year and focus on price per mileage+color combo preference.

For 13 the "RS5" logo on the tachometer is printed on and for 14+ its an actual 3D badge. Also, I do not believe you can control exhaust flaps directly with 13 whereas you can with 14+.
I think 14 is the year that got the updated shift paddles as well.

14 has updated paddles which can be bought for 300 at Europrice.
15 got a new black optic wheel.

No major changes, but certainly minor changes. With each model year there are tweaks that get made to address issues and improve the car. Many of them are software updates to the ECU, TCU, MMI etc. and some are hardware updates, so if that matters to you I would make sure that the car you get has the latest updates. I love my 2013, but I've had a steering update, ECU update, TCU update and several MMI updates, so the car is not the same as it was when I first bought it. Each update improved the car and made it better. I wouldn't trade it for a 2015, but I'm glad all those updates were done to it.

@superswiss -- did you reference TSB's to get your ECU/TCU/MMI updates? I'm almost positive my '13 CPO didn't have any of them done yet (certainly none while I've owned it). Would love to have them perform a few updates, as she's at the dealer as we speak for a day or two.

@SeattleiteA6 -- no all updates were performed based on complaints from me. The ECU updates were done, because I had intermittent misfires during cold start, the TCU update was done recently, because I complained about the common bump when coming to a stop. It didn't quite cure the bump fully, but it improved the transmission otherwise. Similarly for the MMI. I just complained about legit issues I was having with performance, Bluetooth etc. I actually got my whole MMI head unit replaced at one point, because it failed to acquire a satellite signal, which is a known flaw and resulted in redesigned hardware (only later 2015 models came with the new MMI hardware from the factory BTW). In the meantime, T-Mobile is upgrading their network which causes 2013 MMIs to be downgraded to 2G. Audi offers a hardware exchange with an update to the latest firmware to fix it. The steering update was the only campaign, so that was automatically performed during my 5k service, but everything else was done, because I complained about something. So, I guess in a way I was unlucky that I was affected by all these issues, but on the other hand it resulted in my car being updated to correct them while I'm under warranty. Better than having these issues show up after the warranty is over.

"hey, I've had a few issues recently on this list I made, can you fix them? And I'm pretty sure this other list is the way to address them. Thanks."

I haven't had any of those issues but I wouldn't mind the free stuff!

I don't think that you can. With the 14+ you can turn the sports exhaust on all the time in MMI even when the car is in comfort mode where as for the 13 you have to go into the dynamic mode to active the sound every time.

Correct. CF engine cover that was previously available ROW only became available in the US on black optics pkg for 15.

15 also got the option of red brake calipers which comes with a RS logo'd finishing plate for the rear calipers. Plate is black instead of red though strangely.

15 has rotor wheel option in black with red painted lip.

I would look based on color and mileage. The differences between the years are pretty much all cosmetic that or items that can easily be updated.

With the 14+ there's a separate exhaust sound setting that you can control in the individual mode, but my understanding is the flaps reset even if they are on dynamic, same way the transmission resets to D between restarts of the engine, so it's semi-separated with the 14+.

Yeah, but the person that I quoted made it seem as if we had the option in MMI. To be honest, it is something that they should have added via a software update.

Interesting. Mine was built to order and we took delivery the day after it arrived at the dealer in December of 2013. I think the build date was late October/early November 2013. Do you know the approximate build date of yours?
