Question Schwaben Scan Tool from ECS

Curious to see if anyone has used this tool? Seems like a nicely priced option to Ross-Tech.

I don't think you can do any coding with it. Spend the extra $ and get a Ross-Tech. Better investment.

There is one user review on ECS implying that it can be used for at least some VCDS tweaks in place of the RossTech cable, but it's not a positive confirmation that it can do 100% of what the RossTech VCDS software allows.

So can you do the same shit good as the Ross teck as far as add mods onto your sweet ass ride. And as far as the price difference is not really that far off

One of the bullet points is: Performs special functions, coding, security access

That's why I am curious?!?! Hoping someone from ECS can chime in?

    Review:
Including Parking Brake release for Changing Brake pads,Audi pads thickness , and adaptions that allow you to tweak your car for making the windows come down with the FOB Key. There is many more tweaks and things to do with this scanner Recommend this to people who don't want to pay 400$ for Ross-tech Wire. It doesn't require a computer and works excellent.

I own one. Used it this past weekend, for the first time, to do a break job on my roommate's B8 A4 Avant. Worked wonderfully! I don't own a laptop, nor do I want to, so this was a great option for me.

I'm also very curious if it does some coding. I did dig around a little in it and it appears there is some potential, but I didn't want to mess anything up without doing more research.

Got in it today with my S4. Printed off the RossTech VCDS instructions and thought I'd see what I could do. Looks like I can get to where I need to go, but the instructions for the VCDS are a little different, like the number and functions relation (VCDS = 7. Coding vs Schwaben= 9 Coding). Also, once I got to the actual coding part the VCDS instructions say change byte 2 bit 2 to 0, for example, and I don't know what that means or which value to change in the Schwaben. It show a long list of numbers and letter with a few spaces in between it, I have no knowledge on coding or software. I'm wondering if it's possible to translate the VCDS instructions for the actual coding portion for the Schwaben?

Or you can return it and get a Ross Tech cable like everybody else has and code everything properly with the help of 1 thread.

Says the guy with Carista. I'm sure they heard it all when they started. "Just go with Ross-Tech. You're an idiot..."

The Schwaben Scan Tool will do coding. After talking with a buddy who does coding and software stuff for a living I managed to translate the Ross-Tech/VCDS instructions. Started off with a simple one and turned off the warnings for the Nav while driving. Worked! More to come.

I messed with mine last night for about two hours. Using the sticky on long coding, every single one I tried I would go to save changes and it would pop a screen up listing "code rejected". I tried the remote operation of the windows with the key fob, disabling the "lights are on" warning, and the seatbelt chime. Each time I tried it wouldn't work. This is my first time messing with long coding, so I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong. I should have researched more and just done the Rosstech with being such a noob at it.
