Twin Turbo R8 v8

Earlier this year, I picked up a fully loaded R8 with approximately 6900 miles from Lamborghini of Houston. It wasn't even broken in yet.

The R8 had all the options I wanted, 6 Speed, Daytona Grey, Carbon Fiber Interior, Carbon Fiber Engine Bay and Bang & Olfsen.







I Immediately put her on a 2000 mile road trip up to NYC with a few detours.... However, during my drive, I noticed that the R8 felt underpowered when compared to my Audi Exclusive A5 k04 with full meth setup. Something need to be done. I thought to myself, maybe it's just me, so I put another 5000 miles on her, but every time I drove her, I kept thinking, this girl needs more POOOWWWEERRRR!!!





Like every AZ-fanatic out there, I already had mods waiting to be installed before I even picked up the car. So, naturally, I stopped by Eurowise in Charlotte, NC. They installed a RS Style Grille, Eurowise Exhaust, BMC F1 Air Filter and a brand new CF steering wheel.







Once, I got to NYC, the R8 had become my daily driver. There was no way, I was not going to enjoy every minute I had with her. Made my daily commute so much more fun. Since it was going to be daily driver, I would need to get the right luggage and briefcase that'll fit the frunk. So, I stopped by Tumi in SoHo and picked up their new CFX luggage and briefcase set. Tumi's CFX line are made with real CF, which would match the interior of my car.









During my daily commute, I had the constant urge for moar power! It just didn't go as fast as I always thought it would, so after a few weeks of back and forth with Mike at Eurowise, I decided it was time to send my car back down to NC for more power!!!

Fortunately, my work involves a lot of traveling around the globe. This is a good thing for Eurowise, as they took their time to build the perfect Twin Turbo setup that was suitable for daily driving. Now for the good stuff, go fast parts!!!

Now, the time that we're awaiting for....Twin Turbo Dyno numbers... Keep in mind that my R8 was dyno on a Dyno Dynamics Dyno, which typically shows lower AWHP than most other dynos. Also note that with the Quattro system, you're going to lose approximately 30% on the drivetrain.

Very nice build. Center lock wheels are sweet, need to see some more pics of it on the car! Don't you think that 20% drivetrain loss is more in line with parasitic loss from quattro? even then you're still 620+ crank . Can't read the torque lines, final wheel tq?

Awesome build, the wheels look great. The TT setup really awakens these cars - the kits we've installed (mostly on V10 cars) has made these cars monsters.

The gains are pretty impressive IMO. Going from a 284AWHP baseline on dyno dynamics (they average about 35% DTL) to 520WHP is pretty strong (delta of 236AWHP). 520AWHP in the DD is about 750BHP.

The horsepower curve is nice and smooth and the torque is very linear in the midrange. The only real way to keep the torque up on a high revving V8 is to add more boost up top, which is not a good idea with the compression that the 4.2L has.

We Dyno our cars on a mustang awd
It's a heartbreaker also
Stock rs4 make 290 awhp on them
But I agree all other Dyno read 15 to 20% higher

Great build! But agree that loss on our cars is about 18%-20%, all my dyno's on both my R8 V8 and V10 show this. Here is my V8 when it just had an exhaust,



425 stock crank minus 20% loss (85)=340 awhp, I got 338.

Then I put a Stasis supercharger on, they said would be good for 120 increase at crank (545). Got 446 awhp



20% loss would make that very close to the 545 I should get at crank. These were done on a Mustang.

With your 520 awhp I would say that is probably just about 650 at crank, maybe a little more since that dyno does read lower than most, but that is a huge gain!
I put a VF-Supercharger on my car last month, have not dyno'ed it yet but from others have I seen, 653awhp and 656awhp, I should be there which is almost 800 crank.

She's drives like no other. Perfectly smooth through all gears and pulls strong even in 6th. She was tuned to be a daily driver, not a 1/4 mile monster. This is how the R8 should feel and drive from the factory.

I'll have more pics soon. She just got tinted

- 38% windshield
- 18% side windows and back glass
- Clear UV tint on the engine glass to protect CF







I'll be installing the APR GTC-500 wing and a more aggressive diffuser at the end of the month. The air exchanger will also be wrapped in CF as well to complete the engine bay. Oh, one more, Eurowise is making a "skid plate" for my front splitter, I have already gone through 2 splitters.

I'll have more pics when my girl drives her up north in April.

Are they using any type of OEM fail safes for this car? Integrating some sort of EBC? Any fail safes for boost control, or using a map sensor at all?

Thats one of the defining things that holds me back on twin turboing my car is the tune aspect of the car. Most of these non standalone cars seems to be using a pretty generic file for the v10's. Not sure about the v8's.

Sold the M3 back in January and am currently trying to find the right replacement. Fortunate enough that I live about 4 blocks away from the office in Uptown, so there's really no rush. You'll have to let me know the next time you're back in town with the R8 man, would love to check it out in person.

First and foremost, congratulations on being able to purchase your dream car (and one of mine haha). Seriously man, I hope to be in that position at this time next year.

Secondly, do not let anyone shit on your car because its not the V10. You went above and beyond to make it faster and awesome looking!

Those things out of the way, the welds on that piping look immaculate. Some really good work there man! Great power numbers. How is the lag on it?
