    2.0T Gas Powered Cars- Recall

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
SHOULD READ "CARS" --- NOT CALLS. Posted via Tapatalk on my iPhone and damn auto-correct messed with it and I hit submit. If a moderator could fix the title - I would appreciate it.

Heads up folks. A new recall for 2.0T powered cars was released on Friday November 13th.

The recall is on the pressure relief valve for the engine crankcase. I found out when I dropped off my allroad this afternoon for something else.

I did get a VERY nice 2016 A6 for a loaner. Thank you Prestige Imports!

I did not receive any such recall. Do you have something that shows more detail?

Mine called for a service campaign not a recall, 2012 B8. Is this the same for anyone else?

Is that the same as breather valve or crank case valve?

Mine just had to be replaced last week. But on my dime. I put in my VIN and my car doesn't come up.

Is this the diaphragm in the disc shaped housing on top of the PCV valve? My mom just had hers blow out in her B8.5 with 20k miles causing a vacuum leak.

I don't have my paperwork yet. My service adviser called it a "recall." I will likely be picking up my vehicle tomorrow, so I will post that info.

Interestingly enough, my car was in for a leaky valve cover seal/gasket and on the work order I did notice a repair kit for the PCV. Alas - I no longer have the stock PCV in favor of a shiny catch can :)

Yes, Audi's crank case breather, or oil separator valve as they call it, is very prone to failing and creating vacuum leaks. I have replaced many of these both under warranty and customer pay. At least they are finally doing something about it. Although, if any of you had to pay for it you got the whole new valve assembly, Audi will only be paying for the cap, diaphragm, and spring during the recall

For recalls, can you still get marked TD1?

I brought my car in for codes related to the pcv and the service guy told me it was a recall and would be repaired for free. However, they told me that they had to replace other parts with the repair kit and charged me the $85 CPO deductible. Not sure how true that is since I only see the repair kit and their other standard checks on the service sheet.

I have yet to scan one for only the recall. But for routine services, we usually end up scanning them abyway

Officially Audi is calling it a 'service action' ----- not a recall.

Repairs for effected vehicles are free.

If you have replaced the part, Audi will reimburse you.

Did that vac leak cause the brake pedal to be stiff before startup, after the car was shut off for awhile? I have a vac leak on mine that's causing that, but haven't really gone in depth with figuring out where the leak is.

My car has done this since I got it with 10k miles and its now at 55k, are you sure its a leak? Hopefully someone else can chime in because now I'm curious if I have a leak.

I'm also pretty sure my last car, Nissan Armada did the same thing.

See, I can't remember if it was like that when I bought it back in March or not. STA4 said it was most likely a vac leak.

Believe I had that part replaced a week before the Service Campaign came out. Will have to check with service to be sure.

Car ran normally with the issue, just had check engine light come on while I was travelling.

My car has (recently) started doing this too, but I wouldn't THINK a vacuum leak at the engine would be the culprit. There is no vacuum at the engine when it's not running. The brake booster stores vacuum so it's available even if the engine loses vacuum. There should be a check-valve @ the booster, so for us to lose our boost after the car has been sitting for a bit, the leak either has to be at the check valve, or some other point within the booster.

There should be a check-valve @ the booster, so for us to lose our boost after the car has been sitting for a bit, the leak either has to be at the check valve, or some other point within the booster.
You know, you're right. There is a check valve in the plastic pipe that goes from the brake booster to the vac system on the engine. I should find a way to test that valve holding a vac outside of the car to see if it or the brake booster is the culprit.

Although, if any of you had to pay for it you got the whole new valve assembly, Audi will only be paying for the cap, diaphragm, and spring during the recall
Any chance you could please post the replacement part numbers for us?
