Car covers for indoor and outdoor?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I searched and it brought up every topic except ones that had anything to do with car covers . I just started browsing and I'm looking for a simple car cover for my a5, it will be mostly used in the garage, however there may be a week or two where it'll sit in the driveway so something that works well in the outdoors would also be good too.

I looked into the Audi one so far and that was getting good reviews. I apparently heard some stories of certain materials that where rougher then others and if not careful when installing or removing it could scratch the paint.

Any opinions any brands or specific ones you guys all use?

    Thanks

    Jester,

I have the audi indoor cover although I bought it independently from the company who makes them. It's a great cover with a fleece lining so shouldn't scratch the car if you wash it prior to installing the cover. I've used mine for just over a year and the cover is fitted for 5 days out of the week, so far, no scratches or marks on the paint.

It's a really snug fit on the RS5 but a very good fit and matches the cars contours exactly.

This isn't an outdoor cover though, it's definitely indoor only and serves to keep dust off the car and prevent damage. I would install it outside only if you can guarantee the car won't get wet.

Thank you for the information ! Mostly I wanna store the car in the garage for the winter and not have to worry about the dust collecting on the black paint all winter long. There would be a week or two where I wanted to store it outside while I redo the garage to clean it up and make more room for stuff which is why I wanted something slightly water proof.

I just know the Audi one is going to be great quality, so maybe I'll just sacrifice the water proofing material. I don't wanna get something that isn't going to be has a soft or easy to remove and leave marks on the paint or something like that.

Audi actually makes an indoor and outdoor car cover, however the reviews of the outdoor one are NOT as promising has the indoor. Complaints of the outdoor one is that there is no soft fibers on the inside to help avoid scratching and such. Having a black car that obviously scratches and shows easily I would LOVE to avoid that at all costs.

I think I might have to go with the indoor one and hope when storing it outside for the week or two I wont have any type of bad weather. I dont mind spending money on something as long as I know its going to protect my paint. I wont keep it in a car cover on a weekly basis since I change when I drive my car weekly, but I want to keep it in a cover from january-march or when the salt gets completely cleared from the streets.

If it's only for a week or so, you could put the car outside with the indoor cover on it and throw a plastic sheet over the whole lot.

Don't leave it too long though or condensation and moisture will build up.

Not a bad idea, it's interesting that the indoor one has the felt inside to prevent any scratching of the paint but the outdoor one does not.
I guess that's why the indoor one is $400 and the outdoor is only $200 haha.

Gonna look around and see where I can score the best deal on an indoor one, thanks for the help 🏻
