Quieting turbo spool up noise.

I know it seems a little weird, but sometimes i wish turbo spool up noise, and dv noise were a lot quieter. Windows down, with turbo spool, but mostly air getting sucked in sounds like a turbine engine. Easy solution, just drive slower, but who wants to do that? With my current config, plus future plans, a stock air box is out of the question.
Any suggestions?

Are GTX's generally quieter or louder than there gt counterparts?

I put a Forge splitter valve on my car because I wanted to hear more turbo-ish noises.

I had the same issue with my FrankenTurbo setup while using a cone filter on 3" MAF housing.
My solution: stock air box; much quieter. I think it unfortunate this won't be a viable solution for you, but understandable.

Here's my take: if you can make some sort of enclosure that completely surrounds your air filter, and adapt it do the air inlet in the radiator support/lock carrier (or some other non-stock air inlet location), you ought to be able to reduce this noise greatly.

Lots of larger turbos come with a "silencer ring". There is a lip machined on the inside of the turbo inlet, and a snap ring is installed in that groove.

It would cost a lot and could alter the way your turbo works, but hey, its a solution.

This one looks like it is not removable and it was just machined on the inside.

B5s are very turbine-y. I'm naturally aspirated and my car sounds like a jet engine from the drivers seat

This, and line the box with foam. Sound deadening foam if you really want to go for broke.

Nate, post a pic of your current intake. They are right, as you need some type of sound insulation. I like custom stuff, so incan make suggestions off your current intake with basically a sound deadening intake box. Im no expert on this matter, but i like cool one-off projects.

I just enjoy the sound when wanted. Just like i like to go faster when i want. Its a sacrifice.

Its sorta like the dude that wants to put the silencers in their fart cans.
