Well, this update sure took some time.
Was starting to feel tired all the time and what ever I did (or didn't do) I started getting pain at weird places of the body. After plenty of hospital visits I got diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 2019.
Life has since been a struggle both mentally and physically.
Try telling a 30 year old with way to many ideas projects going, together with a brain that constantly wants to build and improve stuff, to sit down and do nothing!
I'm still not fit to do anything during the cold winters here in Sweden. Its a bit more bearable during the summer. Heat helps a lot and I live in the wrong country.
Anyways. What makes me pick up this project again that I really really miss is the end of life vehicles submission from the european commission lurking as a dark cloud over Sweden.
I feel forced to get it back on the road again. And I also really really miss to drive my car I love almost as much as my wife.
Started the summer by towing it from the mice infested barn to our house we bought 2.5 years ago. I wanted as my wife called it "A garage with a house extension" but ended up with a house without a garage but decent parking space.
First thing to do was to start searching for places were the mice that kept hunting this car was getting inside of it.
Took some pictures of the inside of the rocker panels and noticed that on the left side there was some daylight sipping in that wasn't supposed to be there.
Had a look from the outside and noticed that 40% of the panel is corroded beyond rescue. And the reason is the plastic sideskirts that is bolted from the underside. The rust started at each bolt connection point.
This will have to be fixed as soon as I get the car running and can drive it to the sheetmetal factory I work as a CAD engineer at. We have a fully equiped welding facility.
What needs to be done in order to get to that point is to fit a fueltank, fuelpump and fuelfilter bracket. Then connect everything.
I also still have to paint all the fixes that was done 2016. Going to try and do that this week.
What I also need to try and fix is the homebuilt dashboard.
My 3D printing hobby picked up quite a bit when i threw away the creality printer and got myself a Prusa I3 Mk3s. No more chinese crap!
Recently also upgraded to a Mk4.
So 3d printed myself a spacer for the foot rest and a new mount for the switches that originally mounts to the instrument cluster.
Used some threaded inserts on the mount to make it easier to remove when needed.
Also need to replace the old floormat since it was very disgusting.
Bought some "marin grade" floormat in the same material as the original one and started molding it to the shape of the floor.
Had to stich the corners a bit, other than that it went very well.
Haven't taken any pictures after the sewing yet since I don't leave it in the car while not being in it.
Also need to fix my fuel and brake line mounts. So 3D printed some new ones in PETG and going to mount them with popnuts.
Side thing I'm doing is copying the original interior parts for 3D printing.
Top part in the pic is printed.
More updates soon!
