    Examples:
    1. What tire is best for snow, summer or track?
    2. What size tire should I get for the winter/summer?
    3. All seasons, summer or dedicated winters?
    4. What's the road noise like for "insert brand"?
    5. What's the tread wear like for "insert brand"?

    I run Nitto neogen's 245/35/19 on 19x8.5 VMRs

Surprisingly good, bought the set during an eBay sale (100$ off $400) for 670$ for the set.

    Quiet and decent grip

I run Hankook Ventus v12 Evo 255/35/19 tires on a 19x8.5 rim. They are pretty quiet, reasonably priced, and the tread wear is great.

I had Continental DWS 255/35/19 tires before and loved them. They are comparable to the Hankook's, if not better.

I had a set of DWS 18's 245/40/18 on this car and ran through two sets of them on my TL before. Great tire for all season and excellent in snow. The sidewalls are a little soft and they feel a little more numb than the Hankooks I am running now, but I'd recommend the DWS over anything for an AS.

    Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2 245/40/ZR18W - Installed November 2014
I paid $524 on TireCrazy, delivered to my house, after a $60 mail in rebate. Then paid a local shop $60 to install them.
Slightly lower snow traction than the DWS but better handling feel. They are a good deal louder over road cracks at high speed though and give a harsher jolt. Seem to be lasting longer than the DWS did, will update with mileage out of each tire.

Will either try the new DWS - 06 next or the Uniroyal GTZ Tiger Paw. Anyone try the GTZs?

    Edit:
Moved to 255/35 19 and the wheels I bought used came with nearly new Michelin Pilot A/S on them. Great tires in dry conditions when it's not freezing temps. Get these things on anything resembling a wet road when the temperature drops to 20 and below and they get really hard and lose grip. Snow traction is non-existent. I've never felt less secure in a FWD or AWD car on snow as I do on these. Luckily, we only get a few days of snow a year.

Running a set of Nitto Invo 275/30/20 on 20X10s all round. great tyres. never broke traction, even in the wet. Really impressed in the handling and my god the thread pattern looks cool. Only driven 3K so far.
Had these tyres on my 911 as well and they've never let me down. No road noise

I have Yokohama Advan Sport A/S on my allroad. They've been spectacular so far and I'm about 25k miles into them.

I agree -- Not a bad tire for the price (265/35R19 on my BBS CH-R 19x9.5)

My fall/winter setup includes the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 (255/35R19 on a set of the Hartmann 19x8.5 titanium rotors). Yeah, I know I should run a dedicated winter/snow tire, but the snow doesn't stick around on the roads for very long... and if it's too bad, I stay home.

I like this thread, wish it was around before I asked a foolish question a day ago about fitment

Have run a couple sets of Cooper RS3-A all-seasons before, and love them. Great price, decent tread wear (got 40k miles out of them), ride comfortably, and for an all season, they stick. It's a shame that they're being discontinued...

I have been running the cheap Fuzion UHP all seasons (245/40ZR18 XL) since April and so far have no complaints. They are a little noisy but so far decent tread wear - they look brand new still. Good performance on dry and in the rain so far but we'll see how they handle this winter. I was a bit skeptical about cheap tires at first but the reviews were really good and so far I'm happy with them. I like the aggressive tread pattern also.

You would think people would do just that, but people don't like to search or try these days.

lol..exactly right...i think if the thread was a sticky and the post was consolidated...i think the issue is the amount of variables for tires. but good thread as winter is close and you know the questions are coming:

    1. what tire is the best for snow?
    2. what size tire should i get for the winter?
    3. allseasons or dedicated winters?
    4. whats the road noise like for "insert brand"?

If made a sticky, I suggest we add these questions (and general responses) to the first post.

I'm running Champiro UHP1, because that's what was on the car when I bought it. They looked pretty new when I bought it (about 12k miles ago) but based on the wear I don't think they'll make it another 10k miles. Otherwise no complaints, but then I'm not tracking the car so I haven't tested them at the limits. They're quiet, look good, turn stop and roll fine, and are cheap. Perfect for putting on right before selling your car.

I'm much more interested in what other enthusiasts have to say. Road noise, traction and wear are very subjective things. My opinion of these things, and say my 55 year old mother's, would be very different. I don't know where Tirerack's customer reviews are coming from. I would much rather hear what the forum has to say.

Just as long as they ask all of their questions on here, then this thread is being put to good use.

    Anyone running the Yokohama S.Drive?

I ran a set back in the day when I had my Mazda3... really liked them -- quiet and great grip in warm conditions.

My Continental Extreme Contact DWS 245/40 ZR 18 tires perform better and are less noisy than the Pirellis I had on previously.

My 2013 A4 has 245/40R/18 tires. I'm looking at getting a used set of A2 Sport rims with Blizzak 245/45/18 tires for winter. I'm aware of the increase in tire size, but would these be too big and will they rub? I have another set of Nokian winters that are 40R, so I could always have those put on the A2 rims. Basically, I just want a 2nd set up rims/tires for winter so I don't have to heep peeling tires off audi rims 2x a year.

Im thinking of get me a new set of wheels to my A4 allroad -10. I found some rotors replica 20x9 et 32. Does anyone of you have any idea if et 32 would look nice? I have now my stock 18" et 26. Riding on stock height. The wheels are way to far into the wheel housing.

With the requested setup, you'll need at least 10mm spacers to "look nice." Otherwise, it will look similar to stock.

    I'm gonna bump this:

Is it a bad idea to mix 2 Michelin Pilot Sport SP2's with 2 Michelin Pilot Super Sports?

I found great deals on pairs of these tires, but can't find any good deals with 4.

    Edit: Same size of course.

    Hello,

I'm seeking tire advice. Just purchased a 2016 A4 quattro with 19x8.5 et43 255/35/19 summer tires. I'm planning on visiting the local mountains for a few snow days, assuming So Cal actually gets some good snow this year. I know that the summer tires and snow are a horrible combo.

I have a set of OEM 20x9 et 37 take offs sitting at home. I was planning on running an all season tire to use when I'm up in the mountains. I don't venture up enough to warrant snow tires. My question is what size tire should I get?

255/35/20 or 275/30/20? Currently the A4 is not lowered, but a conservative drop might be in the cards.

    Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Jason

Quick question for those of you that have DWS and drive in snow. Once the "S" starts fading is it still safe to drive in light/med snow, i live in Nor Cal and going to Tahoe few times a month from SF. Its snowing pretty much every day this week.

Depending on your future drop people have used 255/35/20 without issue.

I did when I had those tires in the snow. They still did their job well with no issues.

Just got back from Tahoe and boy the drive from SF to Tahoe 200miles was brutal. It heavily rained the whole way up and my car was hydroplaning if i drove past 60mphs not sure if it was my tire tread, low psi 35 (checked afterward), or heavy rain (but i see other cars go 65mph+ ie civic, prius)

the DWS minus the "S" did pretty well in the snow from going to stopping.

Can anyone advise by the pictures if i need a new set, I will continue to go up to the snow until April. Im lowered also and slight camber.

Check out the last picture on the first post. That'll give you idea and you're getting low enough on that tread to justify new tires soon.
