    Angry Error Code p0501..

I've been reading through a bunch of threads but haven't quite found the information I am looking for. Starting yesterday my CEL came on then shortly after my abs light came on while the brake light was flashing. while the abs light and the brake light were on the car had hard deceleration, brakes were able to lock up, steering felt more sensitive, and my tach/speedo wouldn't work. After driving it a couple miles the abs light and brake light would turn off and car went bake to normal except CEL still on and traction control light comes on. I had the CEL read and it came up P0501 -Vehicle Speed Sensor Range/Performance. From what I've read it sounds like my ABS module would be the issue and not the camshaft positioning sensor (speed sensor) but I am still not sure and it is driving me up a wall. Could there be a chance that this is the ECU and not either? Any similar experiences or someone who can shed some info?

It's clearly a problem with one of the vehicle speed sensors (not the engine speed sensor), did the fault code give any information which vehicle speed sensor (there's one on each wheel) is misbehaving?

No I did not get specifics just read the code from a code scanner. I don't have VAG so I can't get any deeper than that. Though, if it is a speed sensor then why would that be messing with the abs?

your abs/traction control module needs to know each wheel's individual speed.

    +1

    That's how ABS/TC/ESP work.
