    Secondary AIR and Vag-com

I have my motor out right now doing a timing service and would really like to delete my AIR injection system. My problem lies in the fact that I cannot have an engine light, so I can still pass state inspection. I know that the JHM tune can take care of this issue but I honestly cannot afford to spend another $500 at this time I am already thousands deep. My question is is there a way to shut the Secondary Air monitor off with Vag-Com until I can recover financially enough to pull the trigger on the JHM software. Otherwise I will be forced to leave it the car and deal with it later. Thanks in advance

No dice anyone? I have no experience with Vag-com so I figured it was worth a shot.

Hey - dealing with similar issues.
Spoke with the boys at JHM and am taking the following actions to resolve my own problem.
    1. Ordered their SAI Delete Tune enhancement (for when I pull the full SAI system and block the ports during my motor out work) As well as their Tune Flash Cable. I am converting my 93 to a 91 due to being in the PNW now and 93 not being a thing here (WTF!)
    2. As an interim (need to pass Emissions) I've heard that you can force the readiness of the system with Vag-Com and while I fully support following local laws and whatnot, and this advice is for offroad use only... I think that you can force readiness of your ECU as a 'tide-me-over' to getting your immediate need of passing solved. See this http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/readiness.html.
    3. I can't speak to removing the system but not having the tune to help with the CEL because you'll get a CEL without the system and your ECU will stay in the NOT READY state as a result.

    YMMV

If you could force readiness for the secondary air injection with a vagcom then everyone would do it and there would be no need to pay extra for the SAI delete from JHM with their ECU tune. You can run the readiness test if everything is working correctly for the SAI system and get the readiness monitor to set but again everything has to be present and working correctly. It is simple just have the engine running at idle after it is warmed up, go into basic settings channel 77, click the option at the top of the screen to turn the basic settings check on, and wait until it is done running the test. I did that all the time at the dealership to test the SAI system before and after repairs.

At this point I have the entire SAI system removed except for the little solenoid valve on the front of the intake manifold because I haven't checked if unplugging it will throw a fault code. I got rid of the pump when I installed my SC and then when I did my timing service I removed the combination valves, lines, vacuum lines, and even cut off the hard metal line that is attached to the hard metal coolant pipe on the passenger's side.

I did exactly same thing on my sai system

The force readiness would only be temporary enough to pass the test...just FYI... and isn't intended to be a "permanent fix for CEL". that's what the ECU code out is for on JHM's SAI Delete Option as part of their tune options.

But again, this is only what I've 'heard'... not what I've done, yet.
