Kind of like this car, but it is far away. Is it really that rare? Pretty high price as well.

I would say a Daytona, Manual, AND Black Optics A4 is pretty rare... Kind of high miles for a '15, but it appears to be optioned really well.

Even with the miles and package seems kinda pricey considering it's not certified.

The description is nonsense. The Daytona Gray Pearl Effect is not reserved for RS anything.

Yes its rare. Its an A4 S-Line Competition package. Daytona Gray was one of the available colors with that package. Its a 6 speed too. IMO that's pretty much as rare of an A4 as you can get and its pricey because of that fact. Its a $50k MSRP that is only 1 year old, under 10k miles, and if you could negotiate them to $40k flat...you're basically 20% off MSRP for essentially a new, exclusively optioned, car. Or pay $41-42 and have them CPO it. (That'd be a solid value compared with buying a new A4.)

At the same time, $40-42k is 2013/2014 CPO S4 money. Not as rare, but a lot better.

...it doesn't need CPO to sell.

That's the reason. Its 1 year old with 8k miles and still has 3yrs/42k warranty remaining. Its priced 15% off MSRP. Someone will buy it for close to their ask.

Adding CPO will bump the cost almost $2k and doesn't make sense on a car that new with remaining warranty unless the buyer specifically asks for it and will pay for it. CPO cost is primarily the warranty cost. The more factory warranty a pre-owned car has remaining, the less value the average buyer sees in an extended warranty. The decision to CPO is primarily financial.

I wasn't sure if the warranty was still transferable I know BMW got rid of that. I don't think a normal person will buy this car, they will have to be an enthusiast of some sorts.

Factory warranty always remains with the car. Certified pre-owned warranties almost always remain with the owner, or person who 'buys' the CPO warranty. Most manufacturers do allow the transfer of CPO warranties between private buyers (for a fee) and will allow the CPO to transfer if the car is traded back to the manufacturers brand dealership.

What BMW did was prevent the CPO transfer if the pre-owned car is sold/traded to a 3rd party dealer. They also dropped the transferability of the free scheduled maintenance that comes with new BMWs.

Rare, as b6onboost mentioned, and it basically has every option. Which obviously includes the very desirable ones (manual, sports package, black optics, B&O). I think the price would be fair if CPO, if only for the peace of mind. As others have pointed out, though, there is a lot of warranty left. If that's in your budget, see if they'll CPO it. If not, and the Autocheck and service records are clean, I'd probably still get it.

Thanks for the responses. I figured it was very rare, since I have been looking a long time and never saw one. I would love that exact car in black, but that seems to be rare as well. I am talking exact with those seats and all, including that steering wheel. Hmmm, I may look at this car closer. Maybe worth a drive up there to take a look. Thanks again. I think I want an A4 instead of an S4. Yeah, I know people think I would be crazy not going for the S, but I have been happy with my old B6 A4 with nearly 140K on it. What a great car. Original clutch and really no big issues at all. I with the A4 had the build in ski bag though. That sucks they got rid of it!

Sorry for this question, but did they ever make that exact car I posted in black. I am talking steering wheel, seats, wheels and all. That is exactly what I want, but not sure about that color. i have had a sliver car for 10 years! Now gray? I might be okay with it, but wanted black for a change. Thanks for any help.

Yes you could get those seats as long as you got the true sline package and not the sline exterior only kit. They are just sport seats with Alcantara centers.

Yes but it'll be hard to find. Check out the "manual transmissions, how rare are we" thread. Aside from the manual, the car you're looking at also has some very expensive options on it (S-line plus, nav, unique color). It'll take a while to locate another one with that exact configuration at all, especially if you're stuck on black. This is how I got mine, which isn't as rare as that, in red lol. Wasn't my first choice but I don't regret it.

Agree, seems instant market value is around 38k and dealer trade in value around 32k

I do agree that an S4 can be had for the same price pretty much. I could probably find a '14 near this price, but I don't know if I want an S4. If you read how bad the actual fuel economy is and if anything goes wrong on an S4 the price is way higher. Insurance is higher as well. Sure it would be nice to have over 300hp at times, but rarely will I need it. The S4 I want is in Houston, TX.

I was hoping for some more responses. What do you folks think about these statements regarding the so-called "rare" A4?

--I've never seen one like it... you probably have never seen one like it

--that we just bought from the Audi Fatherland
    What does that mean?

--a color reserved for the R-8 and RS-5.... This is a factory executive driven 6 speed A-4 Quattro in Daytona Gray
I haven't seen one and can't find another listed anywhere. Is there accurate?

    --Special bumpers.. special rear spoiler
I think the spoiler is standard? Special bumpers? What do they mean by that?

I could use some help on this. Is this something rare? I can buy an S4 of the same year for about 4K more and it has about 3K more miles on it. Still, I worry about the extra cost of an S4 and feel really comfortable with an A4. Thanks for any thoughts on this. I am turning 50 in two weeks. I need something. lol

^ All the audi dealers use the same guide for making a listing, rare, executive, special color etc etc etc..... You read enough of them and you will notice the trend.

If you order a car at the dealer you have more options for colors than what is listed on the normal site, Like ones that are offered for RS cars - $$$$. So thats what them are implying by a "rare" color (Daytona Gray Pearl).

The car has the S-Line bumpers (which are just the bumpers off an S4) This became standard on all 2014 A4 cars, not rare at all.

What makes this car rare is the 6 speed manual.

^ Tyler is right, all of the stuff on that car is rare only in the group that it's in... The car is a fully loaded manual, which was probably over or close to $50k new. You can order any new Audi in any color they've ever used for a $3-4K premium (I was researching getting a Nogaro Blue one), so yes it probably is one of only a few in that color. Manual S-lines are very tough to find on their own, let alone with the other features that one has.

    Its RARE.

There really is no question. It's a fully loaded, 6-speed manual, S-Line Competition Plus package, in Daytona Gray. That combination is basically as rare of an A4 as you can get.

Don't buy a car because its rare, buy it because its what you want. If it checks all your boxes, except its gray instead of black, that's about as close as you can get with a pre-owned car. It basically sounds like you want an A4 that otherwise looks/feels like an S4. So to me its only logical that you also consider S4s. It's running costs will be a little higher (gas, insurance, maintenance) but its a lot more car for the money. Plus there are a lot more S4s out there in black, with alcantara seats, and a manual transmission.

Thanks for the responses. I'll have to think about this a bit. I should at least look at a car in that color in person before driving all the way out to see that car. My current '05 A4 has almost 140K miles on it and it still looks and drives great, but it is getting up there. I will miss this car when I get rid of it and it probably isn't worth much. I know a dealer wouldn't give me much of anything for it that is for sure. Just an auction car for them. lol

There is an A6 right down the road from me, so I can look at the color in person. Thanks again.

I have a nice car near me to look at the wheels and color together. I wish my local Audi dealers would order more in manual, but none of them do. Sucks!

    http://www.sewickleyaudipa.com/new/A...8d0ee2ae57.htm

Just a follow up. Sewickley Audi was too lazy to show me the car. What if I wanted to just order a new car? Guess I can do it at the other dealers around Pittsburgh. F, them.

Go to Audiusa.com you can build this exact car in black for $46k MSRP, so you can be out the door for $43k.

To me a $1k discount is not enough to buy used over new.
Being in Westchester I'm sure they can list these cars for anything they want with a decent chance of moving them.
If not they cut the price to a reasonable level in 6 months.

The only thing making this rare is the 6MT. I bought my A4 with the same packages; S-Line Competition Plus, Sport, etc with Suzuka Grey thinking it was a rare combo based on the fact I had never seen an A4 with the flat bottom wheel and Alcantara sport seats plus Suzuka grey, but it turns out Audi pushes all their exclusive packages out the door when they get to the last model year of any car. After I got mine, the dealer had another one on their lot a few weeks later in Sepang Blue and then one more in Suzuka Grey. Now I do have an automatic, so getting the 6MT would be the only thing rare about this one.

I say order a new 2016 one and you should be about to get it for invoice plus any rebates that audi has going on especially loyalty rebates if you still have your B6 and trade it in.

And yes, spending $43k on an A4 is a lot, but to me it's better than getting an older CPO S4 or dropping $55+ on a new S4. I like it, it's plenty of power/fun for me now, tune later can provide an added boost if I need it, and I really never find myself ever needing the extra power the S4 provides. Plus insurance is cheaper when you have teen drivers in the household.

No, the car has the S-Line Competition Plus front bumper, which is different from the S-Line/S4 bumper and pretty rare right now

What is strange is the "S-Line Competition Plus" package, which that front bumper is unique for, started with 2016...

Given this, and the description saying that it was "factory executive driven," that car may actually be one of a kind (or very, very few) if it is, in fact, a 2015 with the full blown S-Line Competition Plus package, which it looks like it has. (The red ring on the shift knob is another indicator of the S-Line Competition Plus package.)

You're right, its because you can't get black exterior with alcantara. If you get grey and select alcantara seats it automatically adds all the other options and you come out at $46,925

Looks like the S4 I posted as another is sold. I was leaning towards it in a way. $40K+ for a used A4 is up there.

In fairness to the A4, it is only 5 months old and new it was around $47K+. Also they are asking 41,9. Would they take $38,000?

S-Line Competition Plus actually started with 2015.5. I have one...it was a special order by the dealer as you couldn't order or build it using Audi's website until about a few months before the 2016's were due out. I've seen Audi do this in the past where they make an option change or even a full refresh right in the middle of a model year. I had a 2005 Audi A4 Avant and then there were 2005.5 Audi A4s with the new grilles, refresh, etc.

As for the bumper, it's not an S4 bumper...they call it an RS type bumper or something like that. I haven't seen the RS4 bumper so don't know how closely it matches. Mine sticker'd close to $48k, but with all the rebates Audi was offering during the summer I walked out with a pretty good deal with what I got...now I don't need to special order any parts to "upgrade" my interior or exterior to s-line, s4, or rs4 parts. The seats and the wheel pretty much sealed the deal for me plus the color was unique for me.
