Wish they came stock with folding mirrors... Just love the sleek look of the mirrors folded in and protecting the car from mirror dings. Has anyone converted to electric folding mirrors on their S4?

I would've paid if it was an option, grudgingly though, as it should be standard IMO.

Folding mirrors were standard on my 2003 B6 A4. Probably my favorite feature. Used it every time I went in/out of the garage. Never had a problem. There was a big wear circle around the knob when I traded it in after 11 years. Always cautious with the B8.5.

I've been trying to justify the $800 + $600 in labor (no I wouldn't want to fiddle around doing them myself) for 4 years. Just can't get there...

I was thinking same thing. But then I said if it came standard, the price of the car would've been more by about $800. So I said fuck it! Ordered it a couple months ago from ECS when price was under $750. Installed it a couple weeks ago. It was much easier than I had anticipated. I did take my leisurely time as I didn't want to mess anything up. Came in at just under 4 hours with a couple short breaks...and ZERO broken clips! Loving the mod so far and well worth it for me. Thanks to audienthusiasts.com for the DIY!

    Amen. LOL
Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.

one of my biggest complaints coming from my B7 S4 to my B8.5 was of course, non folding mirrors... WTF Audi .. and yeah $800 is super steep.. I just fold one and have my chick or passenger fold the other in when I park, still not the same though

It is weird a car like this just doesn't have them, my 2008 335 had them stock, wife's x3 has them, it's crazy Audi need to save 100 bucks on a nearly 60k car and not put them on.

Folding Mirrors are like E-Codes ... AZ wants you to have them so bad and they are a must have but in the real world nobody even notices the difference

I'm sure for most people it's probably a waste, but I live in downtown and have to park in a parking garage at my apartment, and it can get a bit tight between the spaces. Also like every damn parking lot in downtown is tiny in order to maximize space usage. Having foldable mirrors would be very nice to have.

no judgement here bro.. i have ecodes .. worth the $800 i paid for them? nah .. do they add a personal touch that probably 1% of the world can appreciate? you bet.. though urs is probably more function than mine and makes more sense

my point is.. folding mirrors.. ecodes .. black emblems.. flat bottom steering wheel.. any other mod like that.. do them because YOU want them.. not because the community said it was needed

Damn, that's a great price for OEM ecodes. I've seen a couple of group buys floating around recently asking for $1400+ for the pair. I may PM you if I go for it, if it's okay. Thx for the info!

This thread went off topic from folding mirrors to e-codes which is the slang for European-spec headlight assemblies.

Help me understand this. For the people that say they need folding mirrors when they park in a tight public garage, if the person next to you gets so close that your mirrors may be hit, how would they get out the car if it's their driver's side, or how would you get in if it's their passenger side? With them getting that close, I would be more worried about them scraping the whole side of the car.

I understand if you constantly need to parallel park along narrow streets, cos I've seen mirrors dangle on cars. But it seems like worse could happen in a garage than mirrors being knocked off.

European headlights .. they don't have the amber on the corners.. cleans the car up really nice but vendors here sell them for $2,000 and you have to put your original bulbs and hardware in.. so kinda like this folding mirror thread.. is getting rid of your amber corners really worth $2,000? Audizine thinks so.. but 99% of people in the world won't even notice unless you point it out

It's also about the fact that people walk by the car when going to the elevators. I've already had 3 separate instances of someone rubbing against my rear bumper and side mirrors. Now I have long scratches on my bumper and a couple small dings on my mirrors. I also parallel park a lot on the street when going to my friends place that also live in apartments.

Not sure if you've ever seen just how narrow parking spaces are in downtown parking lots, but they are really, really cramped spots.

I wanted them pretty bad and was able to hold off, until my wife bought a Q5 and hers folded in my face every day. Smdh, found a set used on here and installed them myself, I think I ended up paying like $650 shipped. I smile every time they fold....
