Hello first posting sorry ahead of time if it's in the wrong category ect. Ok so i own a 2001 brilliant black b5 s4 70k miles stock. It has an airbag light on. The air bag light came on when i moved the seat ,and i need to get it inspected, so i bought a vag com on ebay probably my first mistake this is the exact one http://m.ebay.com/itm/321500422819?_mwBanner=1

And they only gave me this

Did they not send me everything? That is literally all i got and if anyone has a link to a legit vag com that would help a lot. And if anyone has tips thank you

    And this is my car

Never seen that thing you bought. The XTool Vag401 is a good one though, it's available from Amazon and Ebay.

As far as your airbag light, it is likely a loose connector under the seat. The tool can be used to bypass the light but it's probably better to just try to fix the connector.

If it came on when you moved your seat, it's probably just the connection. Check that all the plugs are secure.

Looks like they definitely didn't send you what is pictured.
But a "legit vag com" comes from Ross-Tech. You just get the cable and a license, and need a computer to run the software.

^^ I don't agree in the $250+ on full Vagcom software for a B5 generation Audi. There really is not much you can change with coding on the B5. Maybe just a thing with the power locks and window up syncing (we're not talking manual swap or engine swap and associated recoding of cluster, etc, that does not seem to be in this owner's future)

At best, you can make due with an ebay OBD II plug (the blue ones on Ebay) and the free Rosstech lite software. Allows you to see all codes, as well as clear them.

I think the Ebay cable and registered version of vcdslite is the best option for an enthusiast.
That vagtool thing looks kinda interesting, but the cable is way more versatile with various software.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

Welllllll.... Then you would have to define "Enthusiast". I have a B5 S4, B5 A4 1.8T, B5 A4 2.8, B5.5 Passat W8, B5.5 Passat 2.8, B4 90Q. I have family members that own anywhere from early 80s dubs and Audis all the way up to 2014-2015 dubs and Audis. So for me, it was well worth the $250 to get the Hex-Can and full VCDS.

But yeah, for the average 1 car owner, vcds Lite is a great way to go. I had a registered copy and an ebay cable for a few years before I took their upgrade offer. If you register it ($100), and decide later on that you really need a cable or the full version for some reason, they give you your full $100 toward the price of the new cable.

haha I may have. I used to work for a delivery service that ran 7 days a week at night (10pm - 2am) regardless of weather... and this was in Maine. You use your own car, and at that time of the night there isn't much chance for rescue (and no cell service), so I just started collecting cars. That way, I never had to worry. If one needed work, I would take a different one. I had two VW Golf 3s, a B3 Audi 90Q 20v 5 cyl (for the bad nights), and my play car... my G60 Corrado. Then I got another golf, Sold the two I had. Bought the S4. Etc etc. I think in the past 10 years I have owned 15 VAG cars.

Now whenever people drive by my house and see 5-6 of them in the yard, they keep stopping in and either asking if I want to sell any of them, or they want to know if I would be interested in more. That's how I sold my last Passat, and that's how I acquired my 94 90q and my 03 W8. Almost had an S6, too, but someone else jumped on it the day after it was offered to me.

This was the lineup when I still lived in FL. The only one I didn't bring with me when I moved back to my hometown was the Jetta 4 TDI.

But in any event... end of threadjack. Sorry OP.
