3 Inch Turbo Back Exhaust 1.8t. Muffler Options?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I will be removing the stock exhaust, cat and everything from the car and putting on a custom 3" stainless exhaust from the turbo back. No resonators, no cat, ect. What type of muffler could I put on this to tone it down as much as possible. I want free flowing, but somewhat quiet/deep.

Sounds wicked. So this has two mufflers? A glass pack and a borla muffler?

The glass pack is not a muffler.

But yes, it is pretty loud. Not that I like that, but it is what it is.

I LOVE my dynomax vt. Seriously. Before when I was had two MagnaFlow mufflers, I didn't like driving my car. My neighbors hated me. My wife wouldn't go in my car.
My exhaust doesn't have the best note, it has a little pssst noise at idle but it doesn't drone and is 10db quieter, which is alot. The only annoying time is long hills where there is just enough exhaust flow to oscillate the flapper, but even then ita not bad.

If you have some money to spend 42 draft designs is the way to go. No drone and a great sound. Also perfect fit. They put in a wide band for free. It's nice because it not loud when your just cruising. On the freeway at 80 I can't even hear it until I get into it.

Vibrant 1047. I don't have any drone although your experience my vary. Catless and no resonator. If I didn't have an open wastegate it would be on the more quiet end but still free flowing as possible. I've heard a lot of a4's 3" exhaust here in town and didn't like it. Mine sounded more v8'y at idle and like it wanted to rip your head off at full throttle. My somewhat equal length header changed that :/ (not heard in any of the videos) I was thinking I would definitely have to add a resonator, but it never actually needed one.

I've got the 3" dynomax VT on my Fiesta ST (200hp).. I simply dont have enough displacement to open it until the turbo is fully spooled up. Thus its actually quieter than stock until full boost then its just barely louder than stock. However I simply have a rear muffler replacement.

I think the same issue would be found on a 1.8.

Its a cheap muffler. Grab it and give it a shot!
